Location: MN | Curious how long of rods you can fit into the cab of a truck, what is your experience?
I am looking at getting a truck for my next vehicle but my boat only has a rod locker for 7ft rods, currently I have an SUV so it's a non-issue to lay 9ft rods from the back to front. My wife will only settle for a crew cab. There are times where I absolutely must pack everything into the vehicle, rods, gear, etc so the ability to fit rods in the cab is important. Thanks |

I have a Dodge Ram Quad Cab. I have the rear sliding window, so when I need to bring a rod that doesn't fit in the pick-up bed, I will open the window, and put the rod up front. Then, I will make sure I put some padding around the rod, and close the window as far as I can.
This usually happens when I am on my own and going to be fishing out of my buddies boat....

| 9' wont fit in a chevy crew...I have to roll down the rear windows, even multiple 8'6" rods is a challenge but they do fit as mentioned ..barely.

| Will a 9' rod lay diagonally in an 8' bed? If so, you could put a lid or cap on it and it would be comparable to your SUV storage. Not sure what size bed you're looking into, though. |

Location: Eastern Ontario | I can only get 8 footers in my F150 crew cab if I want to use passenger seat I carry mine in the boat tied down with rod savers under the travel cover |

| I can get 9' rods in the cab of my f250 crew cab. Front passenger floor to rear drivers side ceiling. Can't get the 9' ers in the short box in any configuration with the topper. |

Location: Ft. Wayne Indiana | Lay your rods on the front deck of your boat when traveling. I drive this way every day of the year without problems. I also travel this way on my 13 hr drive to Minnesota. Never had an issue. If you want to put them in your bed, get a 9.5 ft piece of PVC from Lowes, Home Depot, etc...or get one of T.I. telescoping rods.

| Surprisingly I can fit a 9ft Big Nasty along with any other rods I'm taking with me that day in my GMC Sierra 1500 Crew Cab. You have to lay them diagonal by putting reel and rod butt at the passenger floormat and then run rod diagonal to back corner directly behind backseat just enough to be almost leaning on back window of crew cab. I do have to bend rod tip slightly to get it in but once in it's fine. I have no problems at all getting it in and out of my crew cab |

Location: MN | Thanks for the info, very helpful. I'll see what I can fit in the crew cab and if needed lay them in the boat and purchase a travel cover. |

| I have a sliding rear window on my truck. I get pipe insulation kind of a spongey styrofoam, slide it over the rods where it rests in the sliding window and close the window on it to hold it in place. |

Location: South-Central PA | I'm getting one of those magnetic rod racks that attaches to the hood and roof of a vehicle. Put a reel cover on the reel and a rod sock on the rod, and they should be sufficiently protected. I drive a Ford Ranger Long bed and I can't quite get an 8'6" to lay diagonally in the bed.

Location: Eau Claire, WI | Like others, I lay them in my boat if I'm hauling. If just my truck, I use a 9.5' pvc sewage pipe with caps and tie it off to the rack on my truck topper.

Location: Price County WI | Never had a problem with them on the deck of the boat, just make sure you use rod savers if you have the rod in a sleeve, without rod savers I have seen rods in sleeves go air born if your running without a travel cover!!!! |

| 2006 Toyota Tundra four-door crew cab, 8' 9" rods fit kiddy-corner butts in the front passenger leg area. Yeah, you gotta flek the stick a bit to get it in, but it rides straight. Partner gets mad when I make him ride shotgun in the rear seat. After talking with Chuck Brod many moons ago, I'll never let a reel ride exposed in the boat again. For that matter, based on how dusty my topped bed gets inside, I'll not let reels ride exposed in the bed, either. |

| Silverago Extended cab will fit 8' rods with the butts on the passenger side floor. Makes your passengers a bit unhappy, especially if you carry your rods with the reels attached. I finally bouhgt a bazooka rod tube because I couldn't stand the noise of the rods rattling together. That opens you up a whole other set of problems, trying to fit the rod tube in the bed... |
