How many of you have tried circle hooks for muskies? I have been using them a little bit. True circles seem to be much more muskie friendly than off-set circles. I wonder why it is that off-set circles are so readily available in tackle shops and in-line or true circles are so hard to find. According to your article in Muskyhunter the mustad demon 10/0 circles worked the best. From what I've seen that is the largest demon circle that mustad makes without getting into tinned hooks. I am a big advocate for the use of q.s. rigs, but have seen circles outperform them on clear water. If you are going to try them, please do not use the offset circle hooks. They will throat or gut hook fish. If anyone knows where I can find demon in-line circles bigger than 10/0 that aren't tinned please let me know. Woverine tackle does offer some pre-rigged circles, but I am looking for the hooks alone. The fish that I have caught on in-line circles were all hooked in the mouth. Like you said Jason, if I can get away with using a Q.S. rig I will, but there is a time and place for circle hooks.

Yes there is a time and place for them.....often late season in mid November when too much hardware makes them confused. The only problem I have talking about circles is the fact like you stated. Its hard to find the RIGHT hook. I have plenty of the right ones and they work good for me, but most folks cant find them and tend to try offsets which defeats the purpose.

Cabella's has the right hooks, if you call them. 11/0 and 10/0 mustad demon circle hooks, the ones used by tarpon fisherman.

Wolverine uses the a 12/0 on there preset rig and its the right hook.[;)]

i know i'll catch heat for this, but i use circle rigs, exclusively the wolverines with the demon circle hooks. i'm 3/5 hits, with 2 in the corner of the mouth. the other fish rolled in the line so i "beckmaned" it immediately so it wouldn't get hurt; as i opened her mouth, the hook was laying loose on her tongue! must have gotten slack when she rolled, good thing i netted her, at least for my partner ;-)
just use the proper hook folks, it's that simple!!!! mustad demon circles are true, in-line circle hooks.

I have tried circle hooks last year but no pickups yet. Eagle Claw makes a non offset circle hook and that's what I have. I bought them for the sole purpose of using suckers around wood, cribs and other snags. I may try them if I hit some really clear water late in the year but the quick strike is my goto rig.

If the trolling bite keeps up, I may not use suckers for the rest of the year.[:p]
