| Thanks - I'm surprised people wanted rods that were faster than the Avids.
I haven't used the AM76 but the AM69 and the 80HF many many hours and they seem super fast, to me. I like these two rods a lot. But these heavy Avids have little flex, and what they have is at the tip (this is what I mean by "very fast") and it can be hard to keep pressure on fish. Assuming what you say about the 76 (heavier, faster) is also true of the 69 -- do people have a hard time keeping the hooks in while fighting fish? I have to rely on the heavy power of the rod to get a great set, cause once the fish is on it can throw the hook a lot easier than when I'm using a Premier MH because keeping the pressure steady is a challenge on those HF Avids and they unload in a split second.
My question then is, if it is hard keeping steady pressure with the Avid HF, and the Legend HF is heavier and faster, do people lose fish and wish the Legends (69 and 76) were a bit slower? |
