We all know that Johnson Outdoors Inc, bought LakeMaster this year. I guess what I didn’t know, and I know I’m not alone on this, but I was unaware that they were going to stop making the chips available for all Lowrance and Garmin units. I jsut found this out today from LakeMaster.

IMO I find this stupid, it seems like they are trying to push me, and other into purchasing a Humminbird unit, and I don’t like that. I also know I have a choice, so it’s not like they have a gun to my head or anything like that, but I’ve got two perfectly find Lowrance units LCX 37c and LCX112, and when they go, I was thinking about upgrading to the new HD units. Don’t get me wrong, Humminbird makes a good unit too, but I don’t like being told which map chip I can use.

I also know that everyone out there is entitled to their own opinion so I’m not trying to start a bash, or thread wars, but just wanted to get a feel of what everyone uses, and likes. So with that said, I’m just curious to see how many of you use Lowrance and how many use Humminbird, and what chips ( LakeMaster/Navionics) you use in them.

Thanks guys

Scott

Crap, I posted this wrong, can some tell me how to correct the voting. It seems that you can only pick one, I was looking for multiple answers.

I hear ya, and sorry for the duplicate post. The new post was moved into the correct topic posting. I just wanted to get a feel of how many people that like LakeMaster and run Lowrance would be affected. I myself love my Lowrance, and like LakeMaster, but now it looks like I have to get Navionics. Thanks guys, and I hope no fights starts.

Hummingbird/ Navionics.

I certainly wouldn't select my unit based on the map chip.

Stand by for some big news soon from one builder, and be assured there's plenty coming from the other in the not too distant future.

Well I'm saving my lunch money till next Spring..... Hopefully that adds up to about $2,200. or I may have to open up an off shore account. that the C.O. doesn't find this time !

I love the idea of an off shore acct, and I've got one of those accounts open right now. I just can't understand why they would just stop making the chip for both units. I just wanted to get a feel of what units and chips people used.

Lowrance and Lakemaster for me.

I just do not like the view on hummingbird, too much stuff on the screen I cannot remove except in the really pricey models.
