Was looking for a smaller sized reel for pike/tigers to put on an 8'6 H Okuma...could get a deal on curado 201 but wanted to know how this reel would work for double 8s, smaller sized swimbaits like 6" sues and suzies, etc? thanks for any input

i have not tried the 201 but i use the 301 for the same baits you mentioned and it works great for me and perfect especially for db 8's. obviously the 201 has a bit less line capacity but i don't think that will hurt anything. at 3 ounces less than a 301 weight-wise i can only think that's a good thing if looking for a really light combo and the max drag in the 201 is 11 lbs vs 15 lbs for the 301...not sure how much difference that can really make ...

Ive got a 301 and I love it...but if I could find an even lighter, smaller, cheaper, yet reliable reel to use for the rivers and lakes around here where most of the fish you will encounter are going to be in the 5-10 lbs range but do have a chance at some 15+ lbs fish. Any other low pro reels that work for this? I do like the revo 51 but its becoming harder to find I can only find winch 51 and I want a higher gear ratio

I have both the the 301, 300EJ and the 201. The 200 will pull the smaller blades but if you hook up in the 8 the lighter drage can be an issue. It really shines with Spinner baits and Jig's with Minnow Bodies, smaller slash/glide baits etc... I have it on a 7'6 flipping stick and use it primarily for pike and small musky applications.... It works great. I have to 300's on more tradtional musky sticks and I think they are great.
