Posts: 909 | Hey guys, I'm gonna ask Santa for a Survival Suit this year for Xmas and don't know which one to buy! I was looking at the Mustang 2170. Does anyone know if this is good and warm enough for JUST FISHING during the winter months? Any suggestions? Thanks, Brian

Posts: 2024 | MS2175 like guest said. Best money can buy, IMO. Surprisingly caster-friendly. Like slipping into a sleeping bag. Incredibly warm. Layering is not really needed (still better safe than sorry though; you can always shed layers) if the suit fits correctly. (I'm wearing one in my avatar)

Posts: 81 Location: Toronto, Ontario | Love my Helly Hansen Alpha suit....all the features of the Mustangs but I saved almost $150 compared to the equivalent Mustang. The Mustang suits are great but I'm more than happy fishing the Canadian Fall in my HH Alpha for a lot less money.

Posts: 909 | How do the new frabil Ice suits compre to the others! Has anyone experienced the change from one to the other? Thanks, Brian

Posts: 600 | Does anyone use regular hunting bibs and jacket for cold weather fishing? I realize there is an increased risk because if you fall in the gear would make you heavy and you may struggle to stay afloat.

Posts: 32926 Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | I have the new Frabill Suit, perfect for layering, the Ice Suit which is warm enough I almost never wore the jacket while using a flip over shelter, and the Snosuit, which is incredibly warm. I'd say the best for Fall/Winter/Spring combined would be the Frabill Suit, because you can layer and match conditions; I'm fishing this Fall and early Winter in a Frabill Suit with the wind proof fleece and a hoodie. For Ice fishing and very, very cold Fall fishing, I'd choose the Ice Suit. For extreme winter angling, the Snosuit. I can drop to my knees in serious slush tending a tip up, no issues...dry and warm in any of them. All are articulated in the knees and elbows, and all have reinforced knees and seats. I've never used a Mustang, but hear very good things about them.
