| hello all, I was wandering if any of you have had any luck with the 14" musky buster intimidators. i have 2 which i have worked on, replaced the lexan lips with aluminium ones, painted, and changed the weight. i got to test them out today and they sure do look good in the water, I am excited to try them more- but I am NOT an experienced pull bait fishermen. I would love to hear stories, see pics, and get any tips/advice from all of you. i have confidence in them already it seems......thanks in advance! |

Location: Pelican Rapids, MN | I've had plenty of success in my boat with them all season long without much doctoring. I understand a mod or two, but it sounds like you completely rebuilt the bait. More weight, aluminum lip? Are you looking for a different action or looking to bang them off structure? Aside from a couple build issues once in a while, I haven't tinkered (modify) with them much except add a couple internal rattles and some reflective materials. |

Location: VA | I rebuilt mine also. Stripped it added some glass rattles. Sealed it and repainted added an epoxy finish. It very frustration to pay $30 for a lure and the paint fall off of it after only a couple of hours of fishing. With only a couple coats of polyurethane its not much protection for a 14" lure. Looking forward to the next couple of weeks and throwing it more. Also moved the rear hook hanger up about an inch to keep it from fouling on the tail. Will post some pics when I get a chance. |

| Mullhead I agree. I sent my first one back after 10 casts when it split down the middle. Aaron at MTO was great to deal with as usual and provided top notch customer service. A wood bait that big should be coated with epoxy for protection and I also added glass rattles to both of mine. I put the aluminum lips in them to keep from smashing the lip up on any rocks I find with it. Aside from the paint issue I think these are cool baits and they seem to have an action all their own. Its good to hear a success story from an accomplished guide like jerry. Hopefully I can tempt one into taking mine..... |

Location: Pelican Rapids, MN | As a bait tinkerer myself, I find the mods interesting. I agree with the back hook issue. Have you ever reset the tail? I had issues with the first ones MB released, but when reset, the wood around the tail split. On one of them, I removed the rear treble similar to a Suick mod. It seems to hold up and work. |
