Posts: 692 Location: Pelican Rapids, MN | I received a tube from Park Falls today with some new models inside. The Legend Tournament Lone Ranger which is a Med-Heavy 8'6" with a Fast tip. Then I also got two new Musky Mojo's. The 8'6" Heavy and the 8'6" extra heavy. I ran all three with an LJV spooled with 100# line. The Lone Ranger had me a little skeptical as it seemed pretty moderate out of the tube, and admittedly I was unaware of it's place in the LT line up, use wise. What I came up with after using it with several baits was - It reminds me of a beefed up longer Top n' tail. I personally prefer a longer rod for most applications and had been using one of my Big Nasty rods as a topwater (straight retrieve) rod and using to T 'n T as a WTD rod only. I can toss a Pacemaker a mile with the Nasty... and to my surprise, 2 miles with the Lone Ranger. It is a catapult! It handled all the top waters I put on it with vigor. I tried to run 10's with it, and didn't care for it at all... Ran a Double show girl which coupled with a Stealth weighted leader casted darn near into the backing. The quick retrieve on the 8's loaded the blank pretty good. However, I ran a Bulger Boo and a Rabid Squirrel with it and it loaded absolutely perfect for both. All in all, it is a sick Top water and small blade rod I'm gonna try some gliders on it next as I like a softer parabolic action with those. The Mojo's were also awesome. Actually got a nice fish on a Kramer Bros. Tackle Windowmaker on the third cast with the Heavy. I threw mag dawgs with it as well. Handled them pretty good. Tossed some mag rubber with the XH as well. I think the Mojo handles the Mag rubber a smidge less rigid than the LT Big Dawg plus it handled big blades really well! I have yet to strap on a pounder for a test. Maybe tomorrow. All in all, if your like me and tend to set the hook too hard on surface baits the Lone Ranger is going to be the perfect rod but if your one of those cats that lets the fish hook themselves on top, it may be a bit soft. You can't go wrong with either of the Mojo's. An 8'6" St. Croix in either weight for $170 can't be beat!

Location: Sun Prairie, WI | I think it's called LONG Ranger, isn't it? I just saw this on St. Croix's website Sunday much to my surprise.

Location: Sun Prairie, WI | Yeah, St. Croix got me on this one, too. I always thought a Long Ranger was the 621. ![]()

Posts: 107 Location: central illinois | I wish they could make an 8ft. 6 3/4-3oz rod in the Premier line. I have been requesting that they make one for three years now through e-mails and phone calls. Fish seem to stick to the 8 ft. rod when hooked. I always thought 8ft. 6 would be even better. Bought a Slingblade awhile back and a month later they made a Premier just like it. I wonder if that will happen again? Don't get me wrong Legends are awesome...but Premiers are too!

You may already know this, but you can have this rod made by a custom builder who uses St. Croix Premier blanks.
