He shows Bass reels but Musky reels have the same fiber washers.
When cast baits over 3oz don't turn your tension knob any tighter then U would for a 1oz bait. When U dimple a fiber washer your spool will be off center and can cause alot of damage to a reel. |

I get so many reels in that the spool is off by a 1/8 " plus and is hitting the frame because guys will tighten down the cast control knob for Pounders or baits over 6oz, that will wear that fiber washer out in ONE day doing that, open up the reel and turn on more spool brakes to stop backlashes. And always use your thumb on the spool when casting. |

Location: N.FIB | what about for suckers, tighten it down so they(the suckers)can`t make runs like they want to,hard to remember to loosen it up before slamming the hook. |

Location: Smith Creek | Good advice, although you can make an exception with Daiwa. Their reels have a plastic spindle that rests against the spool. The spindle can wear over time, but it won't do any damage to the spool. |

| I tend to leave mine all the way loose for most applications, mostly out of laziness. Got tired of adjusting it for different lures. Yeah, I know that's really lazy! |
