The nets went in sunday. If the DNR ever wanted to make some money, they could right up alot of tickets for untattended set lines on this lake.

I fished yesterday and the day started pretty slow, but as the sun started to peak it's head tthings got better
2 small ones landed
2 small ones missed
3 follows W/one being an OK fish

All in all not a bad day. I did see DNR placing the nets yesterday, but it didn;t seem to slow the action. I saw boats popping little ones all over the lake.

Agreed SVT, it is very expensive for sure, you have to split it with buddies or its just 145.00+.
I had a 1.5 week span of good fishing down there.
Just gets the rust off ,
It is a great place to take kids/family and let them learn the finer techniques of musky fishing.
Wife caught her 1st 30"er.

Went down on 4/2. Saw tons of fish. Well over 20. 6 of which were over 30 & 2 were over 35. Buddy missed three. I got 1 35". Water temps 47 in the am & clear. By noon the temps were 51 & water was murky from boat traffic. Great to get one in Illinois. All the guys I talked too were awesome. Great representation of the muskie brotherhood. Fox Chain should be ready by the end of the week.

3 trips were over the span of 1 week.
Hottest times down there are ice out week til nets and then a great fall bite before duck season starts. Oct 15-26th.
By now temps are in 50s and bite seems to just diminish. 0 fish over the weekend.

good luck guys!

Thanks guys, I was just checking for a buddy who was down there for a few days.
Wed, they did quite well, 41",36",35" ,typical 2 dozen to the boat.
Water temps were steady at 68. fish really active on twitch baits, cranes 305-306.

Hey just wanting to check in on spring lake north and south, just wondering how the vegetation has went through the summer and if it is still fishable. Me and my dad are wanting to make a trip in the next couple days but dont want to waste the gas.

last i heard they pulled a board from the dam in early August(for duck season?) and it is down 4-5" from normal, that should be fun! Bet the weeds are on top now! Bring some bass worms!

Air temps are still way up. 90 for the high saturday. I would wait for the water to cool before you come down.

From my experience on this lake you cant really fish it late spring to fall due to weed growth and the shallow water. As far as water temps...it really never gets hot as 90% of the water flow is actual spring water.

This is the lake I target the most, usually not dissapointed. Everyone is correct about size and weeds. This lake gets a lot of pressure for it's size early in the year. Small fish caught early, larger ones as spring progresses.

Is it fishable right now or are the weeds matted on the top?

I had a friend of mine just head down the way to fish Spring Lake N/S and also Banner Marsh.
Spring N, is choked of weeds still, not much you can do unless you fish jigs or buzzbaits. Strange thing is he had water temps range from 78-64 due to cold springs...my guess is those fish are a complete "light switch bite".
Banner was steadier at 73 and good clarity .
