Posts: 4 | Just got back tonite, with wild weather changes ,90 degree highs to 32 degree lows, sun, cloudy, rain, sleet and snow. 7 fish boated between two father/ son teams, the biggest being 51",50" & 49". The fathers both caught personal bests at 51" & 49" respectively. I managed a 50", the fish were all nice and chunky, very solid. Pop's got the biggest at 51"x21.75" ( not bad for a 75 yr old guy). He is clearly just trying to inform the anglers how to properly hold a muskie. and I agree, great fish.

Posts: 4 | We tried two kneeling photos in which Pops was having a real tough time holding her. I suggested the quick standing photo, she was released seconds after the photo was snapped. This was a fish that Pop's had fished all his life to catch, his previous best was 45". I promised Pop's a shot at a 50+ fish, it took 8 years of Canadian trips to accomplish this, I've managed that goal a few times, so it was a joy to finally be the net man on his. Posts: 4 | The standing picture was taken immediately upon me giving Pops a hand up to his feet, To be honest I didn't even really notice his hold till later. I snapped the picture, put down the camera and took the fish from Pops and over the side she went. He snapped the photo of me releasing her shortly before she swam off. As to offense for comments made, this may be a once in a lifetime occurrence for Pops. The water temps were cool (63 degrees) so I'm sure this helped ease any stress on the fish. God willing we will get another shot at a fish like this for him and I think a sitting picture would be better for all involved. Like I said things were happening fast and I wanted to get her back in the drink asap. Edited by muskie49 9/19/2011 6:18 PM

Truly awesome. Great story, that's what it's all about. Congrats to your dad! Although now that he's finally reached his goal (50") he'll have to head to Minnesota to top it.

Posts: 4 | I would like to thank all for the kind comments, I'm sure Pops is checking it out also. I sent a picture to the local newspaper, hopefully they print it. After a lifetime of fishing a nice published photo would make a great little memory.
