| Does this unit have the capability to look up the Sun/Moon phases on it like I could with the HDS7 Lowrance I had?

Location: Mayville, WI | In the age of smart phones - it's literally an app away. You can get a free one for your phone that automatically adjusts the times to your exact position.
This is not a deal killer for the 858c.

| What app do you use?
Not a big deal when in town, but when I go to Canada I leave my cell phone off for the whole week!

Location: Mayville, WI | Time2Fish Lite - it gives moon rise, set, overhead, & underfoot along w/ sunrise, sunset, & peak & 2ndary fishing times & "hourly fishing ratings". Plus, you get the ability to scroll ahead as far as you want date-wise. There is a $$$ version (don't know how much) that you can save certain locations & view that data. In the free one it's just data for your current location.
I've got an 858c myself & tossed around the same thing vs. Lowrance. But, after using an HDS-5 for work I went w/ the 858c b/c of ease of use and few other nice features (and lakemaster chips look AWESOME on it). If you're just going for a week, I'd just print out the times from on-line & bring a few copies with.
