I have never used a weagle yet but have seen it in action. Looks very similar to homewrecker. I have caught numerous muskies on my homewreckers. My question isn't so much which is better, but what's the difference in action between the baits and am I missing out by not owning one? Thanks

It's the other way around. Homewrecker looks a lot like the Weagle. Weagle came before Homewrecker. Very similar baits....nearly identical. Exception may be the wood they're made of and the weight. Both are like any other lure: just another tool in the box of tools to use. Both can be worked and used in the same ways. Some just have personal preferences of one over the other. I wouldn't say you're truly missing out on anything by not having one vs the other...unless you were to pick one of each up, test them out personally and find that you like one more for your style of fishing and working a bait.

They are similar enough... I am excessive, and have both.. I personaly use the One eyed willy most when using a large heavy WTD bait.(another similar bait)
And the Willy comes with Eagle claw 774s, instead of the round bend hooks(I dont like) that are on most of these baits..

do yourself a favor and set aside a 50 dollar bill and get a cady...you will never go back...the action on the cadys is sick...it is a shame they are no longer made.

Weagle, Homewrecker, and One Eyed Willy are basically the same lure. The phantom Viper on the other hand, from my experience, sits even lower in the water.
That said, I've got an 8" perch weagle that I wouldn't trade for anything.

The Suick built Weagles work as well or better than the Cady Weagles I have...and I have a bunch. had a couple homewreckers, and sold them.

all about density and the way you want to work em. if you want to run it like a jack-pot, fish-stick or maus marauder and cover water, then buy the ones you are mentioning. if you want to plough water a couple times for a specific fish to hit then get an original. yes, they are different ...

send me all your cady weagles that "don't work" please. if you don't know the difference they you likely never will.

edit: ... that doesn't mean don't buy the other ones, simply that they are all "tools" and certain tools do certain things.

I tried a number of homewreckers and none of them worked the same as the next; very inconsistent. If you get a good one then they're great. I also have a couple Satisfiers that work great also. Lots of good options.

Sled,
Never said they don't work, they do. What I said was the Suick Weagles work as well and in some cases batter, due to consistency.

I've found that the old Wabulls worked much better than the new Suick ones. The paint jobs even seemed to be better on the older ones. I've bought several Suick Wabulls that just don't seem to work as well. I haven't noticed a difference with the new or old Weagles. Both run pretty much the same.

exactly ... "work" is what needs to be defined in an absolute. some have learned that it's the very "inconsistency" due to the "density" which is precisely why the original weagles "work" in a way that makes them a truly unique "tool" that has it's place that so-far is not duplicated by any other offering.

with topwater as many "different" sounds and actions you have in your box the better. some believe the same holds true with "quirky" double 10's ... which i also believe is true.

or maybe i'm just nuts ... which is entirely possible.

I have no issues making a Suick Weagle dance the real deal dance...which is what made the 'good' Cady/Baldy Weagles magic for me. I find the new Wabull to be comparable to the lighter older Wabulls, which I prefer. I can make 'em zig zag and head nod at will, but they do sink slower. Paint has been excellent, and compared to a spray can form the old days, very long lasting. Sled, we just ain't going to be talkin about you nuts.

it's not a dance

more like a bulldozer or a plough ... it's the very fact they do not work that makes them work

can i get an AMEN from someone in the congregation who has seen the light i'm speaking of??

What is a"Cady" Weagle???? The ONLY difference is the wood. Original "Musky Nut" Weagles were made from Hard Maple. Due to the fact that 1000 maple blanks may only produce 200 weagles, the decision was made to go with poplar. Much more consistent in regards to weight. Cady switched to poplar BEFORE selling the rights to produce the weagle and wabull to Baldy and his "assistant". All "mojo" weagles are poplar and I'll assume Suick weagles are as well.Suick weagles work great.

Weagle by far. The issue I have heard is that you might get a good Homewreaker and you might now. It all comes down to wood selection and the Weagles are made with hand picked wood stock and the Homewreakers are punch out of wood, shaped, and finished. From what I have seen and heard there is no QA/QC on selecting the good blanks for a Homewreaker like the Weagle goes through. Does not matter if you have a Cady, Mojo or Suick Weagle, they all go through this selection process to pick out the bad blanks vs the good ones for balance and weight. Just my 2 cents....
James

PS-I will also admit I love Suick lures but that has nothing to do with my above opinion... Its about the quality of workmanship and care in choosing raw materials and the Weagle wins by a country mile!
