Heading to Boulder Junction area next Wedneday and would like to do more topwater fishing. I have yet to catch a muskie using a topwater lure and do not have a lot of confidence in this technique. Please help! I will be fishing a clear lake for the first two days and more of a stained system over the weekend...I have the following baits:

Black sparkle Weagle
Black/orange Jackpot
Pearch Jackpot
Bullfrog Whopper Plopper
Baby loon nitewalker
black whopper stopper?

Out of these lures what would you be throwing? Would you throw one style over the other on clear water and another on stained or does it not matter? What about color? Is this a good time of year to try topwater lures? The clear lake has very steep drop offs and is basically a basin and the stained water lakes are more varied in depth changes if that makes a difference...Thanks for any and all of your advice!

Weagle is definitely a must-have bait... but oddly I dont see a Pacemaker anywhere???

Really, conditions dicates which topwater to use... if its dead calm, mirror surface, then its the Weagle I go to... if its rippling across the surface, I go for Pacemaker or Topwalker... If its rippling or little more than that, I go for Phat Daddy... As for other baits you listed, I cannot say as I dont even have those...

Hmmm, no crawlers on that list - Hawg Wobbler, Creeper, or any of their evil spawn. Get one of each!

Weagle, Weagle, Weagle ..... If that doesn't work, throw a 10 inch Weagle ......

All of the baits you listed are good surface lures. Early fall from now until turnover is the best time of the yr to be throwing topwater.

Better toss a September Globe in the mix, along with some type of wobbler. As much of a creeper junky that I am, I lean towards the wobblers when slowing things down later in the year. And... if you get the right wobbler, you don't have to slow it down as much as you think. Color can make a difference on these as the season progresses. If you are in need of any of these, drop me a PM or call Ryan at (715) 213-2056. You'll wait a bit for your lure if he doesn't have any hanging, but worth getting on the list.

Black TopRaider with an orange prop would be my first choice. Covers water, easiest bait in the world to fish plop-plop-plop-wham
