Has anyone been up & down I35 between the Cities & Duluth in the last few days? Any delays due to construction? Where at and how long?

I haven't been delayed traveling northbound but if there is a delay you'll see it on the digital signs about 15 miles before Cloquet. We were delayed for 15 minutes Sunday evening going southbound right outside of Dulth. It's hit and miss but it's there.

Can add 15 minutes to 2 hours to the drive, depending on traffic. Worst is from 694 to Forest Lake, I'd take an alternate route like Manning (aka 15) or 61 to Forest Lake. Duluth to Cloquet is pretty much all construction zones and can be brutal at times...even in the middle of the afternoon as my girlfriend found out. Unless your destination is Duluth, I'd be taking an alternate route and avoiding that drive altogether.

make SURE,,,you drive the speedlimit between MPL'S AND HWY 694,,,this is one of the heaviest speed enforcement areas in state and they all use unmarked with the lights inside patrol cars

Came southbound on Sunday evening two weekends ago. Nightmare. 2.5 hours wasted.

Good luck!

Don't count on using 61 as a way around the traffic. It takes longer than just dealing with 35. I live just off 61, and the traffic is backed up from light to light basically all day long due to all the geniuses who think they can find a real shortcut around that mess. There isn't one.

I'm coming thru the TC going to Canada via IF, what about getting on Hwy 65 and taking that al the way from TC to Hibbing Then north to the border. Would that be faster?

BINGO!
There are other ways to get there if you dont mind seeing the country side.

Just got back from Canada, was down to one lane south bound from Wyoming to south of Forest Lake, was really backed up when we came through.

I take 65 every time I go to the cities. I never see cops but I hear they are there. Its a good route at night when the lights in north metro are all green.

I just came back from Virginia. I went up last Saturday and came home on Tuesday. The traffic moved along just fine, actually above the posted speed limits in the construction zones even.

Will be traveling Thursday from Iowa up thru the Twin Cities. We usually take 35E all they way thru....Is that still the best bet thru the TC? Thanks in advance...

Been on that stretch allot this summer (six times to Vermilion and back) the last time being last Saturday going south and my best luck dealing with the construction traffic is to travel early on Saturdays or late on Saturdays , stay away from Mid day on Saterdays, Friday nights and Sunday afternoons and its not too bad.

On Saturday I was going North (from Hinkley area) at about noon, so this would have been some of the busiest times due to resort change over. A little later would have likely been worse. On Tuesday we were going South at about 4 (leaving Cloquet at that time).
