Location: Contrarian Island | I have the 620 itch again (anyone looking for a 690 pm me but I do have one very serious buyer interested who is 1st in line) For guys with 620s...are the 2007 620s the ones to avoid? Is the 08 and newer hull the same or what years are different? ie. is a 2010 620 the same hull as an 09? 2011? any that are better for ride/handling/big water/waves than others? thanks Edited by BNelson 8/5/2011 12:04 PM

Posts: 32934 Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | I believe the hull design was changed in 2006. I've heard really good things about those changes...google it, I'm sure there's lots out there. Not sure if the Ranger rep is still here at the NTC, if he is, I'll ask him tonight.

I have a 2008 620 that was a new hull design. Then there was another change in the 2011 model. bob620

Posts: 719 | The newest hull started in 2008, it had a bit bigger pad in the rear and is significantly faster than previous years. The interior was redone for the 2011 model run but the hull is unchanged. Some 06 models had a nose with more rake and in big water at slow speeds they could get wet up front...all the 07s had a different bow and some 06 models. Older ones are shorter and are rated at 225hp. They all ride good...the newer ones are a bit longer, can run bigger outboards and can be faster if they are set up for that. Length helps the ride as well.

06 and 07 and early 08's were a redesign from the previous generation 620s. Most 08's and beyond had the return of the deeper keel that reduced the bow wash that Turg referred to above.

Posts: 299 | I've got an 06' 620 and fish St. Clair religiously with zero problems in big water. I've fished several times out of an 05' which seems to ride just a little bit better in big rough water. To be honest, all the 620 hulls are great and the newer ones will tackle big water better but I've still haven't gotten wet in my 06' hull even in the roughest conditions. It's all gonna depend on how big of water you fish...but don't shy away from any year model from 05' till present. The 06' hull is a faster hull and the keel is not as steep as the newer ones but still handles like a champ. My next 620 will have the deeper keel but only because it would be a newer model year. I love my 06' 620! So far it's been flawless on LSC.
