Location: The Yahara Chain | The body is shaped like a Banana bait, but a Banana is a jerk bait(It doesn't have a lip). Does anybody know if Wayne Guetch ever put any lips on his banana bait body?

Posts: 578 Location: Sheboygan Falls, WI | Actually, the side profile is on the order of a Banana Bait, but the overall shape is not like a Banana Bait. A Banana Bait is wider and not narrow like this one. Looks good though. I can see that one being thrown in some of my stained waters around here. I bet it has a pretty good wobble with a good tail kick. Chuck

Posts: 354 | I don't really have a clue but I did purchase an Anglers Way globe last year. It was marked in a very similar way as the '04 on the bottom of the bait. I have no idea whether they ever made any bait like the one pictured.

I can't believe me eyes! Put that dude in a lock box NOW. I recognize that bait; it was one of a dozen made for Manuel Noriega in the mid eighties, and the baits were originally used for Peacock barse. These baits were conceived in a thatched hut and crafted using real miniature bananas. Unfortunately, a troop of Spider monkeys came outta the trees and attacked their fishing party in a canal and made off w/ all but one bait, which was attached to a bamboo trolling rod; the primates also took their lunches and daggone nigh ripped the clothes off their backs. After escaping through the jungle and finding his way back, Manuel hid the remaining banana bait in his hacienda until it was captured along w/ him during the U.S. invasion in '89. He then traded the bait for a phone card while incarcerated in Florida, and until now, the whereabouts of the bait was unknown. Now you know the REST of the story...

I failed to mention ONE small detail; the original color of the bait was Pearl. Apparently Noriega swallowed the bait just prior to the door being kicked in, and it was discovered during xray by a prison doc a month later. Thank goodness for modern technology! We'da never found that sucker...

Posts: 162 Location: Madison, WI | It is called a Jugernaut Boomerang. It was made be a guy named Chris __?__ in West Virginia who makes them in his spare time. I got some from him last spring. His e-mail address at that time was [email protected]. I haven't communicated with him since. I hope this helps. Pat

I made these lures from 2002 to 2004. It was fun making them. A lot of fish were caught on my Boomerang models. It had a wicked wobble and since I used very little paint there was no worry about it chipping like on most wooden lures. I have seriously been wanting to get back into making this style exclusively since it was my most productive model. If anyone has any questions heres the email addy... [email protected]

Wayne Gooch is a good friend of mine; he did not put a lip on the bananna but he did make some jointed ones. Unfortunately they did not sell very well but they do work; work well in weeds and are a good hooker. Jenks on Hwy B still has them for sale.
