Posts: 572 Location: Maplewood, MN | When fishing in the summer, how often do you use tubes? I have a big sexy that is fantastic action and the hang time looks too good to pass up, yet i have not moved a fish on it yet. Maybe target different depths? I'm usually around 20 feet on clearer water. Thanks.

Posts: 79 | I use my tubes in shallower water than 20'. I typically fish them like a glider. They have been my #1 producer the last 2 years. I haven't tried the big sexy yet, but I hope to soon! The 10" monster tubes are dinamite for me!

Posts: 175 Location: Tonka, MN | Keep throwin it. I usually dont throw them too often in the summer, but thats not to say that don't work....just preference. I tend to fish em shallower as well, but that it more dependent on the lake I'm fishing. There has been times where I dont even feel the hit with the tube and have had huge teeth marks in it. As for the figure 8, I tend to dance em by the boat rather than go into an 8. Just depends how the fish is acting.

Posts: 79 | I have yet to have a follow on one. They just get eaten. TC24 is right, they normally don't get crushed. You will feel a light tap or as he said , nothing at all. The ones that you feel nothing on will let you know they are there though. Watch your line and if it does anything unusual (a slight jump, goes a little slack, ect) put it to them. I hope this helps.

Posts: 4053 Location: Land of the Musky | I have some of my 14" Tubby Tubes for $10 each. Only thing wrong with them was the packaging was destroyed so I cannot sell them to retailers. My Tubby Tubes are very versatile baits. You can take off the tails, mix and match colors, remove the harness and drill holes in the weights to make them more shallow, etc. etc... You can work them about any which way you can think of. They also have a treble near the head where about 80% of your hits will happen. Really helps increase your hookups. http://www.tackleindustries.com/basstubelure.html I am out of stock on some including the TT-20 and TT-21 now. Someone bought the rest of those yesterday... Thanks, [email protected] PS-All profits from the sale of the Tubby Tube lures goes towards children's charities and USA Veterans funds and Charities. I do not make a dime on the sale of these lures!

There are a few left on overstock bait but if somebody bought the mold some good musky lures could be had.

Posts: 1023 | Tubes are my #1 bait by far! I fish them shallow - like a jerkbait. Especially in the summer. They catch fish! Red October has the best rigging for tubes by far. Landry

Posts: 79 | Tubes, by far, are the best throwback baits I have found. I also have to agree about the red october stuff being top notch. I have a couple of their through the nose jerkbait rigs. They are very good, but I prefer to make my own.

Posts: 380 Location: Michigan | I have to put in a plug for the Red October here as well... Great rigging options. Buy one tube, and rig it 5 different ways from shallow to deep presentations. Tubes raise as many fish as any other bait I use. Fish them where the active fish are. If you have fish using shallow flats, rig it light and fish it like a jerk bait. If you have fish on breaks, use a 1.5 or 2 ounce jig head and work the break from shallow to deep. Don't think you have to swim them slowly either; impart some action and erratic movement to trigger strikes. My biggest problem with tubes is that i tend to set the hook too fast, and don't get as good of hookups. This isn't the baits fault, its mine. Need to pause before the hookset... Very versatile bait that moves fish.
