I didn't part with $30-$35 dollars for one but did see a couple people buying them. Was anybody willing to give them a shot?

Location: Hayward, WI | I didn't look them over too closely, but picture a 6-8 inch 1x4 with the front end cut off in a semi circle.
Then put a treble out each side, spreader hook fashion. Finally, hang a little keel down the rear/bottom of the bait and attach a set of double 10's and a skirt (one pack by the looks of it) of flashabou and you have it.
At first I thought the bait was a gag. They look so plain and unlike anything you've ever seen. Pretty much no attempt to make it look like ANYTHING, which if you had listened to Worral's seminar I'm sure he would say didn't matter.
I couldn't bring myself to buy one, but I'm sure they have a huge profile from below, and push a ton of water. If you believe the guy at the booth, they do catch fish, and big ones. Looking at the bait, I would guess if it caught anything it wouldn't catch too many small fish.
Weird bait, different idea. Not pretty, but from a scientific standpoint I could see where they might actually catch fish from time to time. I would think they must be a bear to cast into the wind...
Gotta give it to the guy for now following the crowd though.

You're right they are not much to look at but I look at some of my home growns that have multiple fish...they are downright ugly. So anything is possible. |

Location: Hugo, MN | The Coot is proof that we overthink muskie baits. It isn't pretty, but there is no denying its appeal to big muskies. Give one a shot. I think we can all agree that slowrolling a DCG catches a bunch of fish. Imagine slowrolling one over shallow weeds. They work. |

| I really like the evolution on this one. Seven years ago it may have been just a board in the water. From the success of #10 blades spawns the invention of the coot. Some one made a #10 blade, then it got doubled. The gopher bait comes to mind as a predecessor but it didn't have the double #10's before it. Did the coot needed the #10's to succeed? Has Mr. McAllister (the inventer/builder) been working on the prototypes for years?
Combining ideas together creates an energy, although not always as successful as coots and double tens. Now for them, it's not just going muskie fishing, all
inventer/builders want to catch muskies on a idea that has kept them up nights. It was a pleasure to talk with Mr. McAllister at the Minnesota show, to me he is what the show is all about. It's a super cool bait that I want to catch fish on.

Location: Hugo, MN | I met Pat years ago on Bald Eagle or White Bear Lake. I ran into him all the time at the boat launch and on the lake, and finally started chatting with him. Over the years, Pat has shared a lot of interesting information and ideas about baits. He is an inventor at heart. He thinks outside the box to say the least. Throughout the evolution of the Coot, Pat has made some adjustments, and has arrived at a bait that does exactly what he designed it to do. Is it pretty? Nope, but it is a totally unique bait that flat-out catches fish despite its appearance. Pat has shown me some pretty off the wall lure ideas over the years. Some of them were comical, but I think he has a winner with this one.
Also, they cast quite easily. Better than a suick at times.

| You just néed to look at Pat's results in the "lunge log" to know they work. I too thought they were funny looking a couple of years ago- then I saw what they can do in person.
