Posts: 7092 Location: Northwest Chicago Burbs | Looks like a few fish are hitting the net for Herbie and the boys up at AML! This beauty was caught by Neil Newman on a walleye colored dawg while on Eagle. And if you want to be a bit more jealous....this was Neil's FIRST FISH!!! For more information on Andy Myers Lodge, go to http://www.andymyerslodge.com and make sure to check the availabilities that Steve Herbeck is continually posting in his Fishing Reports section. This isn't the camp to go to if you're looking for luxury, but it IS the place to go if you want great guidance as to what are where the fish are moving on. The knowledge we're given in that way cuts down the learning curve by 4 days and has us onto fish fast! I've been to other destinations that had cabins as nice and the amenities were on par, but when you ask "where are the muskies?" basically their answer is "in the lake".

Location: Des Moines IA | Agreed. I work 230+ days a year, solely so I can spend a week a year at AML. Sounds kind of crazy, I know, but I start counting the days until the next Eagle trip, as soon as I get home from Ontario. Makes most of the other muskie fishing I get to do during the year kind of lame actually.

Posts: 462 Location: Syracuse, Indiana | Best news of the year? Last night my son (previously) uninterested in fishing asked me if I would take him to Canada fishing for a week. I told him about AML, and the various excursions, and he is ready to go now (me too)! We can't make it this year, but next year for certain! Sorry to hi-jack the thread. Great fish, whatever the weight.

Posts: 95 | And imagine, I got the opportunity to learn just about EVERYTHING from the master himself. Thanks Herbie for always having that incredible love and passion... not to catch fish yourself, but to insure you are doing whatever it takes to put your friends and clients on fish. It still amazes me to watch your excitement and desire to get the fish in the boat, no matter WHAT THE SIZE!! I'm thinking closer to mid 30's, simply cuz it looks like the head weighs 20 lbs. Have an awesome season everyone. It's been great being back on and getting back into sharing and learning on this awesome site!!

Posts: 829 Location: Maple Grove, MN | Nice fish! I think there may have undermeasured it by about a half inch. I agree with Rick that it would most likely weigh in the low 30 lb range. The fish is thin because it just got done spawing a few weeks ago. In a few months that fish will probably weigh over 40 lbs. To bad us humans don't have a natural weight loss program like that. Very nice fish and one anyone would be proud of. Congrats to the fisherman.

Posts: 6 | I mean no disrespect. If I caught a 55 I would be kinda dissapointed if it weghed in the low 30s. I realize I will never catch one that big..great catch!

Location: Eagle Lake Vermilion Bay, Ontario | was an exciting fish, hit way out on a long cast and completly cleared the water in summersault. fought like hell. don't want it to appear i was unprepared but didn't have a tape in the boat, was my first real guiding musky this season, used a dollar bill,6",after 9 still had 2-2.5 " left on the tail but figured probably fudged a 1/4" or so here and there measuring quickly so we could get her back so i called it 55" to be honest, i'm sure it was a bit more, but who gives a #$&*!!! not me anyway. low 30#? guess you had to be there. tough from a computer chair. probably got done spawning week-10 days ago,was still banged up a bit so ya a bit lean but she was very thick across the back. i'm sure would have filled out nicely by fall but you take em' when they come. i'd guess somewhere 36-39#,remember she was 55-56", and i've done a few in my day and came pretty close. saw 4 others out of 12 fish that day that were 50+. was going back on one and she hit, hadn't seen her previously that day.danny went out after supper, took my boat and got one em' off one of my icons the little *&%$! didn't go far, burned 12 liters of gas with a 125 opti. been 5 caught off the dock this week. good luck to all this season!! herbie
