Location: Cook, MN

Greetings! Water temps have been fluctuating from 60-68 degrees throughout every day. Fishing has been getting better and better, bass are on their beds, loads and loads of slab crappie have been caught, big walleyes, big northern, and big muskies!!

The bite has been steady the past week now, with walleyes being caught deep in the mornings and afternoon (24-32ft), on lindy rigs (4-6 foot snells) tipped with a leech, minnows seem to be on their way out while crawlers are working their way in. Slip bobber with a leech has been getting better and better fishing the reefs before dark (5-12ft).

Crappies were found in shallow bays with timber (1-5ft).

The pan fishing has been great as well with nice sized slabs being filleted.

Northerns have been mostly on crankbaits, casting in the bays or trolling the rock reefs and deeper shorelines, (4-7” baits) color hasn’t seemed to matter much.

Bass have moved up on the banks and are on their beds, watermelon and pumpkin soft plastics for flippin docks, 3-5” crankbaits, and some rattle traps.

Muskies have been on the prowl, chasing smaller baits than expected, inline spinners - number 4 or 5 mepps or other similar baits, tandem spinners like the “Shumway Hot Heads black and orange”, and the most recent has been on single or double number 8’s, Dreamcatcher with an orange blade, black with nickel bladed Lily Tails tipped with a white trailer grub, and Glittertail walleye colored double 8’s, and No topwater action yet.
