Posts: 255 | Looking for some opinions on a handheld spotlight for the boat. I am not looking to spend a ton of dough. $50-$70. Obviously I would like a really bright one. Anybody have one in that price range they really like? Thanks in advance.

i went through a few that hooked up to my 12v with so many million candles of light or whatever. honestly, i find the strongest power mag light to be the best. especially the LED ones. and about a 1/4 of the price. easy to store, take a beating, don't worry about it getting wet, battery connections, etc. just my opinion. and always a good weapon to have around just in case!

Location: Sun Prairie, WI | Check this out in Cabela's Bargain Cave. $30 for a 2.5 million candle power Cyclops. I have the Cyclops brand in 10 million cp. Have had it for 5 years and has worked great.

Posts: 1207 Location: Pigeon Forge TN. | Never got into the millions of candle power. But made my own spotlight many years back and it will light up a field when spotting deer and would do very well in your boat. Not expensive. I use a two quart sauce pan, a toggle switch, extention cord and an aircraft landing light. If interested in making one I will give you the bulb number and a picture.

Posts: 255 | Found the Cyclops 2.5 million candle power at my Cabelas bargain cave. I forgot about my post on here until I got to Cabelas. I looked it up on my phone and saw your post. Walked into the bargain cave at the store and there was one left $26.99. I love this board. Thanks for the help gtp888. The only downside is that after getting home i looked up the Cyclops 18 million CP and found Walmart sells that one for $57.00. Oh well I think the 2.5 will be fine for my needs and I saved money! Thanks again.

Location: Contrarian Island | this is the one I have...I like the fact it has a 2.5 hour run time...most of the other halogen ones I've had in the past were spent after 20 minutes...plus it doesn't get hot...a couple of my buds have picked it up too after using mine and love theirs as well...plenty bright! http://www.homedepot.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?s...

Posts: 897 | I've had good luck with a Black and Decker one from Wally World. I went through a few until I found my current B & D spotlight. I use it quite a bit (probably 2-4 times per week for 5 minutes) and I had to charge it 3 times last summer. I think it cost $20 for a 1 million candle power light.

Posts: 1207 Location: Pigeon Forge TN. | I was PM'd about the home made spotlight I have. Here are some pics of it. This baby is only a 100 watt, but if planes can see good enough to land with it I thought it would do well. It does. The very front gets hot after a while but the sides don't, and YES, that is electricians tape hold it in the two qt. sauce pan. Works very well.
