Hey just wondering how everyone did for the opener? We moved two fish in the evening and saw a half dead 45" that looked like it had been run over by a prop. Water temps around 68 degrees north metro.

We hit two lakes yesterday... At Lake Y, I started off with a 2lbs bass on an 8" Weagle, then Matty got a small Pike on a glider... then nothing for the rest of the time so we moved to Lake Z and pretty much was welcomed with 7 muskie follows but no takers... it seems like they were spooked by the boat, always going away when near the boat... I also managed to snag a Sheephead on a Double Dawg right through its back... Have seen more than 20 follows by Sheepheads on various of my lures I used: Warlock, AP, Cowgirl, Dawgs, Phantoms, and Shadillac... Matty and I threw out a smorgasboard of lures hoping to get the muskies to bite but no luck... Minnesota definitely had a High Pressure system yesterday...

Went out today, and had several follows by the Tigers. The pike hit hard, and the bass were small. Ton of carp in the shallows, I guess I should have been throwing carp colored lures. Otherwise sunfish.

Had about a dozen follows yesterday on forest...no takers. Had a few that were over 40in. A bunch went around the 8 many times but never did the deed. Water temps about 67 or so....had fun...with bluebird sky's and very little wind made it tough fishing, oh well

Was out on Bald Eagle this morning... saw a lot of dead and dying panfish, but that's about it.

Longville area - my buddy got a 47" on a topwater at 10 pm last night. Only saw 5 the whole weekend, but had a 50" class fish going on a fig 8 for a while, but kept her mouth shut. Nice Aurora last night, too.

We had a great opener in the cass lake area, we fished sat for about 6 hours and caught a 50 and a 46.5 and missed another 50-52 ish. Didn't see many but what we saw wanted to eat! Water temps are in the 58-61 range. Should be a great rest of the week!

Fished a north metro lake on Saturday for 15 hours. Best chance I had came 10 minutes into the day when a nice fish grabbed a 6 inch phantom and straightened the hook out on a jump. Lost one other fish and had 7 small males to the boat. I'm guessing the fish just came off the spawn. We saw three big girls swimming around that were all beat up. No muskies in the boat but it was a great day anyways.

Raised 4, had 3 missed hits, I lost a real nice one and my partners put a 48 and a 45.5 in the net. All in all a fun opener.

Yep, it was post-front conditions in the metro all right.

We fished Minnetonka and it was slow. I shoulda, woulda, coulda had a 40 inch class Muskie and had a mid-30 incher hit on a figure-8, which tried three times to eat the lure but never got a hook. It seemed the few hungry ones couildn't see anyway. We also had a half dozen smaller fish follow. The fish seemed to be in the deeper water zones along deep weed edges and secondary breaks and one had to get the lure down in their face in order to get their interest. As always, we caught a lot of Pike and some Bass. Still lots of fun and nice to get out.

Its going to be hot until Wednesday and then its going to cool down big time. Sure is looking like a tough start this year. No big deal. There is a lot of season left.

We usually have alot of action on opening day,,,,this year was maybe our worst opener ever,,,we had 15 follows but all were 5-10 ft behind lure barely kicking their tail it was like fishing August fish that had been casted at a million times,,,the next weather change/front I think the metro will go crazy may be alot of fish caught in next weeks metro tourney

I fished Vermillion for about 6 hours on Saturday and only manage 2 follows and a blowup on a topwater. One fish came in hot but drifted away after the first turn of the 8. Water temps ranged from 58-62.

Saw a lot of fish over the 3 days we were up at my cabin but they were all lazy follows. Saw em on every bait imaginable. All shallow/ Netted at 43" today in this miserable weather so it wasn't so bad.

We had about 20 follows for the opener weekend but they were all very lazy follows. Did manage to hook up with a 50.0 but that was it. Came on a Double Cowgirl, but otherwise the blades were least productive. Glide/jerk baits and minnow/twitch baits were the best for follows. Caught a fair amount of pike and a couple largemouths. Water temps mid to upper 60's.

Went to grand Rapids area and had 58-62 degrees water temps. We had 12 follows all at least 43 or bigger and managed to boat a 51" beauty on a Lemon Head Twisted Sucker.

Muskie Time really sounds like you really Muskie timed it. But i also expeirenced a great day this week out on eagle, we pulled a 45 and also a 46 all on a 100 yard stretch of shore line, both caught in the same prime hour in the morning. Caught them both on reef hogs. Had a great time, also had a few mid 40 follow. maybe me and Muskie Time should hook up and Crush some muskies together sometime. Go get em while they are on the bite!!!!

I wonder if the success on Eagle has anything to do with the partial winterkill that was experienced out there. Kind of surprising to me that a lake with that much deep water would have that issue, but apparently it did this year.

Hit Minnetonka yesterday evening, very slow. Gonna hit Eagle up soon and see if it is worth fishing for the tourney on sat.

Tell you son nice fish!!!!
That is my only goal this year, I want to get my 7 year old his first musky. He started casting last week off the dock. I don't care if I don't catch one all year if he gets his first.
Great Pic!!
