Posts: 1906 Location: Oconto Falls, WI | Only fished Sat morning for muskies, and it was tough. One swipe and miss at boatside. Did get some 12” perch with the kids though over the weekend. On a side note we were on North Twin, and happen to see a pair of muskies swimming tight to each other spawning. Also saw the same on Kentuck Lake. Doesn’t look like the spawn is quite done yet for some!

Posts: 13688 Location: minocqua, wi. | successfully gutted a disaster that was the innards of my boat. the wiring nonsense we found after digging through it was almost hard to believe. all is re-designed with use of a power distributor and wiring layout that is neat, clean, protected and logical and the first water-test was fantastic. ironically we had to tow a fisherman off of lake tom ... he had some unknown power problem and was stranded with cowl off and back end torn apart looking for the gremlin that ruined his first weekend on the water.

Posts: 1061 Location: Medford, WI | Got to the boat landing Saturday afternoon, saw a ton of trailers...thought to myself "the tournament's not out here this weekend, is it?" Yup, it was. Still fished for a few hours...nothing - heard there was a window in the morning. Sunday, hit a Phillips area lake and caught a couple nice bass, 30" northern, some smaller northern, and had about a 40"er lazily follow in a small bucktail. Still 0 in the net...

Posts: 157 | Made it out Sunday night for 4 hours, zero fish seen. Towed a stranded fisherman with a broken down boat off the lake, his kids told me it happened the night before too

Posts: 393 Location: Hopefully on the water | Fished Saturday morning for a couple of hours. Seen 2 on Dbl Cowgirls, 2 on Hellhounds. ! fish mad a attempt to swing at the bait. Sunday fished for a couple of hours also and had another fish swing at a Hellhound, missed and started in the 8 but faded away. Seen 1 other fish follwoing a dbl showgirl. Saw 2 mid 30" fish get caught by another boat and saw 7 other fish cruising the shallows. 1 was pushing the 50" mark. Great weekend to be on the water. Luckily I have seen a fish each time out this year. Now it is just putting it together that they eat.

Posts: 706 Location: Richland Center, WI. | Had a chance to hit Twin Valley Saturday morning for 4 hours. Cloudy at first then sun then clouds again. Water temp 74 degrees down near the beach. No fish but pretty much the same as everyone else I spoke with. Nice to be out on the water though! Ken

Posts: 223 Location: minneapolis | I did get out on Sat. but I didn't get any fishing in. I was too busy trying to sink my boat on it's maiden voyage............ That new rule about not towing your boat with the plug in- I guess it's not that big a deal if you forget to put it in and take on a little water- after all- thats what a bilge pump is for. It's a big deal when you discover that the bilge pump fuse is blown I spent my time swimming- not fishing. I did determine that it is possible to swim behind a swamped boat and lift /push it back on the trailer if you have someone up front to help winch it. Good to know, I guess. I bet I don't forget to put the plug in again all year. And I'm getting a new fuse for the bilge pump

Posts: 109 Location: Spencer, Wisconsin | Went out yesterday and hit a couple local areas mouth to Greenbay and Menominee area and only saw a couple sauker fish jumping and a 30" class northern swim by, no hits or action. I tried a few baits and worked on my technique and focusing on the cast. Nice day to be on the water.

Posts: 272 | I'm good for losing about one 45-48" fish per outing so far. If anyone wants to see how its done, I'll be glad to show you how. Ditto last night....... Got two on the season, should have about ten. Third one I've had TO the net. Starting to get sickening.

Posts: 3513 Location: Elk River, Minnesota | On my own this weekend...managed a 38" on Saturday midday when the clouds rolled in, then a nice thick 40" last night when the barometer dropped and a rain shower passed just north of the lake I was on. Managed to see quite a few in the shallows just laying there, but last night was a bunch of fun. 6 follows with one roughly around 44" another around 42" then the rest were mid-high 30's. After a very sunny and cloudless day, the one fish and all the follows in a matter of 2 hours or so made the weekend.

Posts: 1184 Location: Iowa Great Lakes | Saw 15-18 on Saturday, most small fish. Managed 3 in the boat best being a 33. Pike bite was on,lost count of how many we caught or had hooked, best was a 34.5" Silver Northern. Sunday was slower only saw 6-7 muskies mostly small again and added another 8-10 pike to the weekends total and another near 30" silver.

Posts: 175 Location: Tonka, MN | Saw plenty of fish but they were all LAZY!!! Most of the fish we saw were pulled from the shallow, size in the low 40's with 1 hog in the mix. Saw 'em off of tubes, dawgs, dussas, raiders, bucktails, phantoms, kraves, jakes...no rhyme or reason. My fishing partner managed to pull a 43" that we saw cruising the in a shallow bay, pretty hacked up from spawning. Didn't expect much from MN opener when it was 85-90 degrees and flat calm where I was.

Posts: 313 Location: Bemidji, Lake Vermilion | Nothing for me, hit a new lake Saturday morning/afternoon, guy caught a 43 right in front of me, that was the extent of my weekend action. Hit another lake Sat night and again Sun night, nothing doing for me. I know a few guys who had much better luck then me though.

Posts: 742 Location: Grand Rapids MN | Fished the Grand Rapids area Saturday morning only. Temps were 58-59 and the weed growth is way behind compared to previous years. Both cabbage and reeds were scarce. Plus the high skies and clearing fronts didn't help. Still managed to move 7 fish and boated a 38" to start off the season.

Posts: 2686 Location: Hayward, WI | I didn't get out a lot. Fished with my wife for some crappies on Saturday. Got out for about 3 hours in the evening and saw nothing. Was busy again Sunday and fished from about 5:30-8:30 pm. Kind of had a follow... Saw a fish surface - the ones you never catch just as I was packing up. Tossed a Mag Dawg by it and it very lazily followed. Turned off like I shot at it with 6 feet of line out, well before starting the 8. Still 0 in the net for me too, and that was actually my first fish sighting! Haven't put in many hours yet but it has been surprisingly tough for me when I have been out. Tucker

Posts: 1308 Location: WI | Put 15 hours in. We boated 2 on friday, a 42", and a nice 47". Had one or two more strikes. Had one strike saturday morning, then got chased off by the wind. Pounded it for 7 hours sunday and we only got 2 pike. Kind of a repeat of last weekend, move a few fish, then fish sunday and get skunked. Water temps seem to be rising, but weed growth is way behind.

Posts: 86 Location: north metro, MN | fished vermilion hard all weekend. plenty of good fish following. they were stacked on any weeds you could find and the bays with the warmest water. had one blow up but missed the lure completely then boated a nice thick 51" a while after on that same weed bed.

Posts: 349 | saturday morning: started fishing at 7 and had 3 fish in the boat by 10 am. 43, 39, and 46.5. Missed 4 fish and had 8 follows, lost one due to a net man confusion. Fish seemed to follow everything but glidebaits, they ate those. monday evening: fished from 6 to midnight and saw fish cruising everywhere before sunset, had to be at least ten and no follows or hits. after sunset had 4 follows and a 41" in the boat. All action on blades.

Posts: 793 Location: Ames, Iowa | On Leech for the opener in the wife's boat. Just not the same when you're not in the comfort of your own boat. Boys and I caught a bunch of nice perch and they landed a few northerns and largemouths. Saw one small (20'') musky in some nice shallow emerging cabbage. Lake was clear with temps 61-62 Thursday and Friday, climbed to 64 by Sunday. I couldn't catch a northern to save my life so catching a ski was out of the question. Friend of mine caught a 44 couple days before opener..... you guessed it.......walleye fishing- pulling a shad rap.
