Location: New Berlin,Wisconsin,53151 | After 12 years of the same locator, I went to remove the transducer and was shocked to find that whoever installed it drilled (3) 1/2" holes in the fiberglass transom. I think it was installed with dry wall plant hanger hardware. The problem is that I now have to fill these and was hoping that someone could help with a suggestion. I've used Waterproof JB Weld for other small holes and nicks, but does it work on larger holes?

Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | If the holes are 1/2 inch in an area where there's some thickness in the glass, I'd get a hardwood dowel and sand it so it JUST pushes into the hole and cut it to length. Soak it in resin that is catalyzed, and push it into the hole so the dowel is a just past flush, and let it kick. Then fill the remaining depression with matching gel coat using a tape repair, wet sand and buff. |
