Used to live in the U.P., near Lake Superior. We had a tiny creek at the bottom of our property and the little terrors breed in moving water. If you were outside working at dusk, they would drive you in. We were at Ft. Wilkens one day and the whole picnic area cleared in minutes when the black flies moved in. This would be early for them where I lived.

No bugs on LSC ? Biting flies ate us up last August. Not black flies but sure resistent to DEET.
