Does anyone have recommendations on good smallmouth/largemouth/panfish ACTION lakes in the area? I will be headed up there at the end of May with my girlfriend and we will have kayaks so I plan on spending a day or two fishing for what she likes (bass/gils). Thanks in advanced.

Are you looking to only stay within the Waukesha area? If you don't mind traveling, then Fox Lake is an excellent lake for largemouth bass and panfish. It's a little more than an hour north of Waukesha county. You'll be able to catch walleyes and northerns as well, and occasionally a few muskies. It's not uncommon for anglers to catch over 50 largemouth in one outing. However, majority of the largemouth averages 12-14 inches, with some well over 18 inches. Northerns are usually mid 20s to mid 30s. Otherwise check Lake-link.com for reports. By the end of May fishing could be completely different from the way things are now.

If you want to have fun catching a bunch of bass and gills, hit beaver lake. The bass are not big, but you can easily put 50 bass in the boat throughout the day. Panfish fishing is great there too. The lake is carry on only, so it is great for kayaks..which is my preferred method to bass fish. I have not hit Beaver yet this year because we have been concentrating on musky, but I am itching to
