Are there any companies that still make incandescant and/or hallogen head lamps? I have tried a few different models of the LED including the clip-on ball cap bill types and just have not been very impressed with their lighting abilities.
I know from years past you could get really good ones through cabelas that had a separate battery pack that you put on your belt, or one that has the battery pack on the back of the head strap.
If any of you know any models that exist, please advise...

Location: MN | 200 lumens is bright. I've been using Petzl lights with 40-50 lumens and they were brighter than most other LED stuff out there. I will have to check this one out. |

Location: Contrarian Island | I mainly use the princeton tec quad model...45 lumens and about 1/3rd the weight of the one mentioned above and it's very bright...around 30 bux on ebay...imo 1 of the best headlamps for the money |

Location: South East Wisconsin | Browning Nitro Headlamp, this is one bright light let me tell you. They retail for $50. They also have a red and blue LED so you don’t lose your night vision. Below is a description per Cabelas web-page.

Location: Oconto Falls, WI | I have an LED one that I believe the brand is Black Diamond. Very bright, and I really like it for night fishing. One mode that is a flood that works good for changing lures and such, and the other a spot which is awesome for netting/fighting fish.
The head also has a little tiny light on the side that blinks every so often. If it wasn't for that blinking light I would have lost my headlamp countless times. All you have to do is look for a little green flashing light and whala, you found your headlamp that had been thrown into the garage, and got jostled down into a crack between boxes!  The light is barely noticable while wearing it. |

Location: Athens, Ohio | I use a Tactikka XP by petzl...Awesome brightness, 3 AAA batts last forever, use it for bowhunting all the way through trapping season, usually ONE set of batts. To REALLY light things up I use a Bright Eyes light with belt pack battery, a coon hunterslight. Hard to describe how bright this thing is. Look for them @ furharvesters trading post. Pricy, but incredible.
