Posts: 61 | A couple buddies and myself are considering heading up to either Leech Lake or Vermilion in early to mid June. If you had the choice, which lake would you choose for catching Musky this time of year? We would also be going after Walleye & Bass as well. What are the pros/cons of each lake (overall beauty, fishing pressure, etc)? Also, does anyone know of a resort that allows tent camping & boat rentals on Vermilion? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance Edited by kcmusky 4/20/2011 5:07 PM

Posts: 3153 | it snowed here today in Minn...forget early june if possible if you want to include muskies, spring is WAAAAAAAAAAY behind sced and those waters are notorious slow starters anyways wakeemup bay has a dnr tent campsite, stayed there many times in my walleye days its quite nice with the boat ramp just next to it,,,charging trolling motor batteries might be out though Edited by happy hooker 4/20/2011 5:04 PM

Location: MN | From my experiences, June musky fishing can be tough on Vermilion. Fish are still caught but I found it challenging to find a consistent pattern. West end guys seemed to do better than us east-enders. However, the Smallie fishing can be outstanding at that time, not sure about walleye. I have never fished Leech in June so can't comment... Posts: 61 | Thanks for the help. Perhaps we'll move the dates back a bit as I have heard the same thing about both lakes being late bloomers. (Late June / Early July). Edited by kcmusky 4/20/2011 5:34 PM

Posts: 787 Location: Ames, Iowa | Not Leech. Looks like a late spring, so Leech will start later than normal in the summer. Always goes like that with a cooler early spring.

Posts: 546 Location: MN | Life of Riley Resort has rental boats and camp sites in addition to their cabins. They are in Norwegian Bay on the west side of the lake. I would pick the big V from experience, plus the sights are similar to Canada in my opinion. I think you would probably get more pressure on leech, esp. for walleyes.
