Location: Bowling Green, KY | Anybody ever try going straight to a piece of 130-150# mono or fluoro with an Albright knot, thereby doing away with a swivel or steel ring or any of that jazz? I've tried it at home, not only with mono, but sevenstrand. So far, when I pull until something breaks, it has been the main line every time, but I'm still not sure. I know it is commonly used for flyline to backing, when fishing for harder pulling critters than muskies. |

Almost, on the uni-knot U go though the eye only once, and Fish-N-Fool U go though the eye twice, which makes a big difference. The Fish-N-Fool knot won Knot Wars 2 years ago and beat the Palomar, but was beat last year by the Berkley Braid Knot, I don't like how the berkley knot has 2 tag ends sticking out of the knot.
The Fish-N-Fool knot is very easy to tie and it comes together very easy if your hands are cold and wet. |

Location: Eastern Ontario | Back in Dacron Days I used to splice has anyone tried the hollow Power Pro and will it splice? They say you can run a flourocarbon leader up the center and it locks chineese handcuff like.
I now use palomar (or the bucher power knot when my arthritic hands are working) |

Its also used by deepsea fishermen here for bigger fish than pike and musky. We also did a test with tying the uni knot straight on to a fluoroleader where we melted the end to a "mushroom" it held up to a 20lbs pike, while trolling, but Im not sure if this connection would be my main stay. | According to a recent test made here in Sweden, the strongest knot for braid is the Berkley Braid Knot.
I tie my FC directly to braid using a normal overhand knot and a uni knot, since i dont use bucktails (only spinnerbaits) a swivel is no use.

| Palomar or Trilene knot (which is the fish and fool knot). Neither have ever failed me. I usually tie the berkley trilene knot thou since it was easier when i used a single strand leader. I like having the 2 wraps around the swivel it provides. |

In every pack of power pro sense i started using it 8 years ago has the uni knot in there and it shows and tells you to go through the eye twice or even folding the line to double it up to make even a stronger knot. Google fish-n-fool knot page 1 right side is a picture of the fish-n-fool knot same page you got your pic from then google uni knot. page 1 middle top same picture same knot some as in power pro package. There is NO difference in the knot. Again it is the american slang name for the uni knot. |
