| Hi all,
I have a favorite topraider that has raised lots of fish and put some in the boat including my second biggest ever. All of a sudden, I noticed that the front of the bait is now rolling over during the retrieve. Not alot mind you, but at least 4 to 6 times during each retrieve. What if anything can I do to stop this. The bait still sounds awesome and still raises fish but they seem to be reluctant to strike it now. (Or so it seems anyway.) Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

| It's one of 2 things.
1. Your blade is bent too far towards the front.
2. Your rear through wire that's in the tail is out of whack.
I'm assuming you didn't take off the front hook. That can cause it to roll from time to time, but it's a great way to avoid some of the "floaters". |

| it's actually a third option: the keel weight in the front part is loose and therefore it turns around. I posted a thread about my topraider rolling as well and I a getting a replacement one from Buxher tackle. Shake the lure and hear if any clicking sound is coming from the front part (remember there is a bead in the tail as well). |

| If the weight is loose inside,,,drill a tiny hole in the top of the bait and dump a bunch of super glue inside and let toprider sit level upwright it will sometimes anchor the weight,,,then seal the hole on top with silicone |

| If it is a favorite of yours and you don't want to send it in, do what I did, and add a little lead solder aroung the front hook, and bend the lure attatchment a bit opposite the way it rolls(they 9 times out of ten rool the same way).

| The topraider is a fine bait and I've assembled and painted many of them when we painted them for Bucher Tackle. There are two plastic pins that hold the special belly weight in place, a few "good smacks" on something hard can cause the lead to break the pins loose and move around inside throwing the balance off. The advice given thus far is good advice so I can add nothing alse to it except to let you know what to expect inside the lure.

| Thanks alot guys. I appreciate all the great info. The lure is a favorite of mine, and I really don't want to give it up. You know the old saying, "The more muskies a lure catches, then the more muskies a lure catches." I guess it's a confidence thing. So I will definetly try some of the ings mentioned here. | Thanks again to all who responded. Turns out it was the keel weight. Held the hooks in place and turned it and heard it rattling around. Drilled a 1/8" hole, suirted some super glue in then epoxied the hole up. Works like a charm now. Thanks again.
