| There aren't any hard cases that can accomodate an 8'6" to my knowledge. I use the plastic/nylong (not sure) Rod Slicks. They're really nice and only cost around $10. If you really want a hard case I would make one out of PVC pipe. |

I do the exact same thing. I use the Cabela's rod sleeves for storage and PVC containter for transport out of the boat. |

Can typically put enough rods for a week of fishing for 2 or even 3 people in one of these. |

Plenty of airlines will let you take cases over 7':

| This sounds a little ghetto but it works well and is cheap. Home Depot/ Lowes or Menards for you Wisconsin types (just kidding) sells PVC that has holes in it that is fairly light. It is wide enough to hold 3 rods in rod slicks. Get the length you want. Cap one end and seal it on. Take a second cap and put an eye hook or somethimg similar in it and run a bungee through. The Bungee goes into the holes on either side of the pipe and for under $20.00 you have a custom hard sided rod case. |

Nice!I'll have to look into that.
I'd like to get one like Jeremy Wade of River Monster uses.It's more of a square/box shaped,and it looks like it can hold 2 rods and other equipment |

Location: Apple Valley, MN | My boat doesn't have rod lockers, so I do a combination of rod slicks and the PVC with holes that were mentioned above. I just slip the PVC pipe over the rods before I leave home and I don't have to worry about then getting banged around or broken during transit. The rod slicks are great and prevent any nicks or tangled lines. After I launch the boat, I just bungee strap the tube to my trailer since it doesn't fit in my truck. |
