If i am correct, a "musky wheel" is a drying wheel? I just used a rotissery motor and then i still havent perfected the rest of it

If my guess is right....the poster is looking for a "wheel" to spin looking for answers in certain scenarios.

Dark water, bright sun.....spin the wheel and it would suggest a bait, color and maybe retrieve to try.

Something similar to a "flow chart" if you will. Going from one variable to another suggesting different approaches and decisons "to be made" for the fisherman.

IMO too many variables for either to be effective.

The wheel/chart I use is to fish when I can, have fun and if I boat a fish thats a bonus. Always learn from what you do, even a day when you see nothing teaches you something. Put 2 fisherman on any lake even one they both know well and odds are both will do something different.

I have one that I will sell, and for a small added fee, I will paint an X on the best side of your boat...

I use the one that came with my board game twister. Only a few colors to worry about, much easier on the wallet too

Oops.  Looks like you missed the part earlier in the thread when Hodag said this:

The OP isn't referring to a lure drying musky wheel.

I think you want the Color C Selector that some bass guys used (Roland Martin still uses it). I see it sells for $119 and advertises itself as a tool for bass, walleye and panfish. Don't think they have a large game fish version however.

Is that something you could make?

Absolutely.

I just need some scissors, construction paper, elmer's school glue and some elbow macaroni.

I'm almost certain it can be done.

I think Dick Pearson has a "think" card in the back of his 'muskies on the shield'. Would that help you?

Bob M. has a flow chart shown like what you are requesting on his "Muskie Matrix" dvd but I don't think it ever shows the full thing.

Easy, just make a wheel that says *work a black bucktail fast* in every space. When you're unsure what to use next, just breakout your muskie whheeeel.

Alright - let's start the ideas thinking of it for a beginner who has never musky fished before. Know that for every one of these people may list, the opposite is just as likely to work:

- Clear water = natural colors and match the forage
- Stained water = bright colors and noisy
- Sunny = Silver
- Cloudy = Gold
- Any topwater color is good as long as it's black
- Cold water = slower retreive and smaller lures
- Warm water = faster retreive and bigger lures
- Moon rise and moon set + sunrise and sunset = prime times
- Local weather change always trumps moon phase
- Early spring = warmest water in the lake and emerging green weeds
- Structure with wave action crashing into it is always better than structure with calm water around it
- When all else fails, vary your retrieve and add jerks and pauses
- Figure Eight after EVERY cast
