Posts: 411 Location: Waconia,MN | Next Wednesday is the new moon. For the guys that use the moon would you fish morning or night? As sunrise and moon rise are almost within 20 minutes of each other, and sun set and moon set are almost 15 minutes apart. So when would you guys fish?

If fishing waconia, do morning. Pound the skinny side of the island (rope swing side) and hit Anderson reef with propeller topwaters.

Posts: 28 | I would actually lean towards evening, if I couldn't do both, because water will warm throughout the day which could get them chasing, and ive always seemed to do better with moonsets, but that's just my opinion, I will probably try to fish both periods and the fish will probably be most active around noon when im getting lunch and a nap, don't forget that there will be a moon overhead in between the rise and set and that can also be a great trigger, seems like those "forgotten" periods can be as good or better than rise and set. just my personal observations

Posts: 1220 | Every month, twice a month, there's a day or two when the sunrise/moonset and moonrise/sunset occur within just a very few minutes. Vampires and Werewolves aside, these cycles occur and gravitational forces are exerted in a meaningful way. Sure, you can't prove it with the stories we all have about absolutley nothing happening....but I sure wouldn't reccomend that you spend that time having another cup of coffee in the morning or a beer at the bar that night. Toss in a little bit of electrical activity in a dark sky a few miles in the distance, and wild horses won't take me off the water!
