| I've been fishing the Okuma EVX series rods for the last several years and have been quite pleased. I have started looking at Tackle Industry Rods and they look very comparable. Looks like both rod makers have good reviews. Is there anyone that has or used both the Okuma EVX and Tackle Industry to state the differences. The biggest thing I noticed is the lifetime warranty offered with Okuma vs a 2 yr with Tackle Industries. How about weight, tip, backbone, cork diameter, length, guides, etc? I've read the many posts on these rods but would like to put them head to head. Any comments would be appreciated. Thanks |

| I asked this same question a while back, and the general concensus leaned towards tackle industries rods. Most responders didn't give too many specifics, but the majority of them said the TI rods were better. |

Location: Latitude 41.3016 Longitude 88.6160 | Both are are fine, I like the Tackle Industries rods better, because they are not tip heavy and I like the actions of T/I rods better and U have more options with the T/I rods. | I have both. As pike said the TI isn't as tip heavy. I use them both thou and both are are good rods for the price. |

| How do the 9' telescoping Tackle Industries MH (1-6), XH (3-12), and XXH (8-36) actions compare to the 9'3" Okuma telescoping H (2-10) and XH (4-16) rods? |

Location: APPLETON, WI | My buddy has the Okuma EVX 6'10" XH jerkbait rod... while I have the TI 8'0" XH rod. I realize there is a dramatic difference in length. I have casted a few times with his Okuma rod and while I've no doubt it has excellent strength and durability, it simply felt "off balance" to me. I'm not certain I can put it into words but it just felt a bit awkward in my hands... especially while doing something delicate like jerbait/glidebait fishing where you want intricate tips, bounces, pauses, etc, etc. with the tip of the rod.
I know it's a bit long for a jerkbait rod, but I've used the TI 8'0" XH rod for jerkbait/glidebait applications and it's perfect. It FELT perfect in my hands... again, that is simply one man's opinion. I know you didn't specifically inquire about a jerkbait application, but my buddy's 6'10" Okuma EVX is the only Okuma that I've used comparatively speaking.

| I have an Okuma 9'3" H that I use for big blades. It is very tip heavy. I have a Trinidad 16 on mine and it helps balance it out. It's a heavy combo though. Iv'e heard that a rod balancer could help , but don't like the idea of adding weight to ,what is by far, my heaviest combo. I also wish the handle was a little longer. Can't say anything about the TI rods , they look great and I've heard good things about them. |

Sounds like some are adding washers/weights or balancing systems to the longer Okuma's, which I hate to do to an already slightly heavier rod. Are any of you running balancers on the longer Tackle Industry rods or are the pretty balanced? Thanks |

The 8'0" and 9'0" models... I've been using them for everything. Plastics/rubber, jerkbaits, bucktails and topwater. They feel great to me with no additional kit required at all. |

Location: Hayward, WI | I've owned and used an Okuma 8'6" XH and XXH. The XH felt fairly lightweight, and was a pretty good Cowgirl and Mag Dawg rod. I don't believe I ever caught a fish on a Dawg with it, but I'm sure it had the backbone to drive the hooks home. Some guys even used the XH for Pounders. It was softer and slower than many, but did a great job of keeping a nice bend and fish pinned. It did load up some in the 8 with double 10s, but didn't feel like it wore me out.
I now have the Okuma XXH and generally only use it for Pounders and 11" Curly Sues. I like the rod, it tosses heavy stuff well, and certainly has the power to drive big hooks home with Rubber baits.. It is fairly heavy, but then again it is a $120 rod capable of throwing Pounders. It doesn't have a LOT of tip bend for fighting fish, but then again it IS a pounder rod. Overall I would say I like that rod too.
This winter I ordered a Tackle Industries 9' XH Split Grip Telescopic rod. I haven't have a chance to use it, and won't for over a month, but it looks and feels like it will be very nice. Quite light in weight for a rod rated to 12 ounces, seems to have a nice action and power. I am quite sure I will like it, but I never REALLY know what applications I like a rod for until I get some time on the water with it.
Customer service from Okuma and James at Tackle Industries is both excellent. I actually had a slight issue with my Okuma 8'6" XH, which I actually felt was mostly my fault. I contacted Mark at Okuma and the service MORE than met my expectations. That goes with the Okuma reels I have owned too. Great communication and service on them too.
James is an awesome guy too. He LISTENS CAREFULLY to his customers, and bends over backwards to please them. I doubt you would have an issue with his tackle, but if you did I'm certain he would take care of things.
Both rods are different, and I don't want to recommend one over the other before using both, but I think you would be happy with either. Nothing like being clear as mud eh?
