Open up your latest 2011 R&H Musky Shop Catalog and then turn the page. "The new Shimano Curado 300EJ will let you FEEL THE POWER!" I'm curious about the "bucktail burning 6.9:1 gear ratio" (the words used in this advertisement, not mine) this thing comes with... is this really going to be capable of burning bucktails? And when they use the word "bucktail", they're speaking in relative terms, correct? i.e., they're talking about a Mepps #5 and not a Double 10 or 13, correct? I'd imagine the line pick-up is nothing short of extraordinary but you're not actually going to be able to burn a large Double 10, right? Or am I missing something? I like the looks of this reel in their advertisement with the low-profile and large power handle.... but seems to me it would be identical to a Revo Toro HS, which I already have and use as my jerkbait/glidebait reel. Is Shimano blowin' smoke and using creative advertising? Or am I really going to "feel the power"? |
