Posts: 265 Location: Manitowish Waters WI | I know at one time you could buy a small unit you could attach to your line that would emit a continuous click sound. I saw Bill Dance using them on one of his fishing shows a few years back and they were designed to immitate the sound made by a crafish tail snap. I always wondered it would help trigger bites on a glider if it was attached somewhere above the leader. Ive search all the major fishing stores and cant find anything besides from brass rings and bead kits for carolina rigs. If anyone has a lead on how to find one of these I would love to try it. Some times I wonder if a little noise on the glider would help attract a little more attention or trigger more strikes.

Posts: 2361 | I think you can find those in the same bin as the "dancin eel" and Roland Martin's "helicopter" rubber bait. And while you are there, make sure you pick up a "Popeil's Pocket Fisherman" to cast it.

Posts: 8781 | Ahhh the banjo minnow! I almost feel left out having never bought them 20 years ago... I forgot all about them until about a year ago, when my girlfriend showed up all excited about some old fishing stuff she found in her basement. What do you know, a VHS how-to tape, and a whole box of stuff called "the banjo fishing system"... No, $^#&!! I laughed until I couldn't breathe... So this year? Well, just for kicks, I'm going to fish with those banjo minnows. I might even see if I can find my old Pocket fisherman. (yes, I actually DID have one...)

Posts: 116 | you know banjo minnows work great when babe winkelman can fly to a remote lake in the middle of canada and catch several 20+ lb pike on them...

Posts: 116 | I had that helicopter lure when I was a kid, along with the flying lure. It took me a half an hour to figure out the 'o' ring on the helicopter lure and about 30 seconds to loose it in a tree. I actually caught one bass with the entire flying lure kit.

Posts: 1767 Location: Lake Country, Wisconsin | all jokes aside the banjo minnow was actually a very effective lure for pike, got "suckered" into buying them as a kid and took them to Canada and had a ton of action on them

Posts: 123 | All of these gimmicky lures will catch fish, that's really not the joke. The joke was that these people were on tv bragging them up like they were the greatest invention since the wheel. Waaay over the top. I can't even remember how many different commercials I've seen for lures like these saying how you pretty much could eliminate everything else in your tackle box. All you would ever need is a Zip Lure, Banjo Minnow, Helicopter Lure, Dancin' Eel, Flying Lure, etc., and you'd never buy fish from the market again.
