Posts: 1663 Location: Kodiak, AK | I'm not boat shopping, but I like to look at the ads and see what's out there. Is it me, or have used prices gone up? For the last couple of years I've always told anyone who asks, "it's a buyer's market." I was in the market and bought back in 08 and I just seem to remember lower prices and good boats for good prices. (Mine being one.) Now I see myself looking at a 10 year old boat and saying, "I wouldn't pay that for that!" Not all boats of course, but I'm just glad I'm not buying a boat right now because it seems like the buyer's market has dried up and boats are aparently selling again. Just an observation. Maybe it's just me.

used boats are priced high, but the ones that are priced correctly, sell very fast. I myself looked at some new 619 qnd 620's a couple of weeks ago. looks like i'm keeping my 99 ranger for a few more years. Jeff

Posts: 2384 Location: On the X that marks the mucky spot | Supply vs. Demand The last few years there hasn't been many boats being purchased so therefore there aren't as many used boats to choose from. Fewer boats and an increase in people looking for them has resulted in higher prices. It's the same deal in used cars right now too. The other thing you're seeing is people who have to get out of there boat for what they owe on it. Many people did the 10+ year loan program and are way upside down on them.

I`ve noticed alot of boats being relisted quite a few times, those are the ones you could get them to lower the price even more if your interested,it still takes the right buyer to buy a 30-40 thousand boat.

Posts: 159 | Call me crazy I say they have gone done this year compared to last. Bought my first real Musky boat last year at this time--A 2004 Tuffy Osprey, with a 150 Opti and Merc 9.9 kicker, 2 lowrance locaters---15K for boat and motor in great condition--motor had 100 hours on it. Basically I just saw the exact same boat on walleye central for 14k a year older---and my sense is he would take even less--has been lowering the price weekly-also like new condition--motor just over 100 hours. There is a really nice 1997 Ranger 690 fisherman-- the boat I was after last year on there also for 14.5K Last year I could not find a 690 for under 17.5K---Looked hard and made 3 or 4 offers in the 15K range--no one would sell. Based on those two boats-- I say prices have gone done.

Posts: 1023 | There is no doubt that aluminum boat prices have gone up noticeably over the last year. I always look for used crestliners and they all appear to be listed VERY high lately. Glad I bought a year ago:) Landry

Posts: 551 Location: Columbus, Georgia | The boats on Walleye Central have always been priced (sometimes ridiculously) high. Seems to me that most of those guys are simply phishing for someone who pays little if any attention to the book value of a quality boat. Some of those boats have been listed on that site for years. One would imagine that if someone is really motivated to sell their boat ... they don't over-price it and let it languish for years ... Edited by cjrich 4/24/2011 9:14 AM
