I want to build the raise deck for back of my 15' grumman boat.
What kind of materials I should use for frames and floor? Also what material I need to support the deck. I was think of going full aluminum frames and floor but want to hear other peoples opinion and try to save me more money.

I Hope I am clear enough, my English grammars suck.

Thanks

1"x1" square aluminum for framing and 3/4" marine grade plywood is what I used.

If you can do it in Aluminum and treated plywood it could turn out very sharp. One suggestions would be to leave the front of it open and possibly have it as a tray system where you could slide in or out plano boxes or for storage. Good luck and enjoy builing it.

I used marine grade plywood, 3/4" thick. It is expensive for a sheet, but better quality and should last longer. I had lips around edges to rest it on, so I didn't build a frame. Just added more support along open edge of platform. Going with aluminum tubing would be best option. I used marine carpet to wrap the platform to make it match the other carpet in boat. Don't forget about seat pedestal in platform, guy in back likes those. Last thing, use stainless steel hardware. Galvanized will work for a while, but you will regret soon.

Good luck.

I have 3/4ths of a sheet of 3/4 inch treated that is left over from when I did my boat. If your near the Madison, WI area and interested you can have it.

if you use treated plywood your carpet glue will not do well in time. look at some of the older boats around. the glue turns to dust. marine plywood is what i used also.
