So, I just bought an HDS-5. I want to put this one up front with the transducer on the trolling motor. Will the transom mount transducer that comes with the unit perform up to par compared to a pod type transducer on the trolling motor. I know I need a trolling motor transducer mount. I also know the downscan won't work well on the trolling motor. Will I be pleased with the 2d sonar that I get from the transom mount transducer mounted on the trolling motor?

Yes, it'll work perfectly. That's the transducer I use on their trolling motor, or I use the Universal Sonar that's now built into the Minn Kota's or Motorguide's. Get the trolling motor bracket and your set.
