Hello to all of you master lure builders and painters. I am a new registered user but I have been looking and have been very inspired by the lures I have seen here. I have been building bucktails for a while and have figured that out, and also have had the capabilities for making crankbaits for a while, but really didn't know how to get started to effectively paint them. Thank you all! Attached are pictures of some of my second generation baits. Although they look ok I have along way to go, but I guess that is the artist in me talking. You can also check out my website for other baits I have been working on. Thanks again for all of the info posted here.

Very nice looking cranks. Your painting skills look pretty darn good to me!!

What are the dimensions on the lures.

I have six inch and 8 inch models. These baits were originally made by a guide near Crivitz Wisconsin that fished High Falls and was one of the most popular baits there in the 70's and 80's. They have a great slow wobbling action to them.

A couple of new paints, a couple of suicks for a friend and my first attempt at foil.

Great work!

Looks like they're fairly deep divers...?

The suicks are most definatly one of the best paint jobs on a suick that I have seen in a long time. Love the colors on it.

Thanks for the comments!
The crankbaits actually run fairly shallow 1-4 ft, but they have a great wobbling action.
Thanks for comments on the suicks as well, I have fished for a long time and always found great baits, but there is always something I like to change to them including the paint and sometimes weighting them to suspend or rise very slowly. I think they act more naturally in the water and gives the fish more time to look at the bait (sometimes good and bad), however I feel the little extra attention I can put into paint job, it gives me a little extra confidence when I throw the bait, and I try to do that on all the baits I work on.
