I had a sling blade and thought it was too flexible when pulling into the 8 at boatside, so I picked up this rod. I assume this will be good for dbl 10's, but a pounder I would assume would be pushing the limits?

If your going to spend the money, I would look into getting a St. Croix Big Nasty. These rods are long (9ft) lean and mean. Great for throwing just about everything and phenomenal for boatside maneuvers like big figure 8. Throwing big rubber all day is definetely more comfortable when you have a rod that is designed for it.

Big Dawg is a sweet rod for pounders, I have one built to 9' and it is sweet. I didn't use it much the 1st year I had it but the last year or more I've grown to really like it. IMO a stiffer tip is better for burning blades...I have heard the tip of the big nasty is similiar to the sling blade which is too soft for burning with a reel like a trinidad and you fight the rod on the 8....i personally use a custom Diamondack 8'9" (was 9' but I cut 3" off the tip on purpose) for big blades at speed...the pre china DBs are worth their weight in gold...
the big dawg would be fine for blades too

I throw pounders with the Dawg, works great. Doesn't load up the best for d10's but as long as you aren't throwing them into the wind it works fine.

If you want to go all out get a Thorne Brothers custom St. Croix XH Predator. I have one built to 9'6" with a custom handle. I throw blades of all kinds with it along with giant rubber (pounders, medussa, sues) Awesome rod that you can build to your specs. For everything custom you are looking right around $400 shipped to your door.

They're so light ,they are at least worth 2x their weight in gold.
