Has anyone ever had any luck on topwater frogs? One of the lakes I fish is very weedy and has lots of places to get lures in trouble.

We've done good on a giant frog. It has one huge single hook and is totally weedless. Great to fish in the gunk.

The bass guys I know get more musky action on frogs then they do with spinner baits. I haven't thrown them much for musky, but I have had a couple of blow-ups that weren't bass, but never manged to gethooks in 'em. Actually, I'm kinda thankful I didn't (I like that rod a whole lot). Who makes a big frog? As often as I hear about it with spro frogs, it might be worth doing more often with tackle that's made for the task.

It's sizmic frog. There are about 10" two frogs and one hook come in a pack for around $10. They are exactly like the sizmic bass frogs just larger. They aren't like spro frogs. They are soft plastIc with paddle tail feet, just cast and reel. It sounds just like a buzzbait.

You want this one. Skip this large frog over lilly pads and you won't believe what lurks below. Be the only muskie angler taking advantage of this pattern. It is for sale. Let me know if anyone is interested.

Uncle Josh has a lure called the Sizmic Magnum Toad that is 8.5". I've used lots of frogs for bass including the regular size sizmic toad, but have never targeted musky with them. I've had a lot of action from Northerns on frogs so I'm sure Muskies would hit them too when they are in the slop. It looks like the Sizmic Magnum Toad is sold with a single 12/0 hook.

Larry's new frog looks like it is ready to do battle in the water with the helmet it has on!!! It does look sweet. I will have a couple in the box in May for when bass opener comes on May 28th..

MuskyMan: That is a Renosky Turbo Frog. Uncle Josh also makes the Sizmic Magnum Toad. Both are muskie size frogs.

I love Spros in Canada. I have had success on the regular bass size (65 version - ?). No luck in the states. I was waiting for the King Daddy to come out for about two years and finally had one for last year's trip to Canada, and I didn't catch anything on it. The weight fell out of the one on the second or third day. I like the idea, but they made these frogs for bass guys, not musky guys. The rubber is too thin, the legs are too small, and the hooks are not big enough.

I had two of my sons in my boat a few years back. They had their rods but were using my tackle. We went into a reed/bulrush flat to checkl for bass and came into an area of no bass to be found. Next thing I knew one of them hooks up with a Ski on one of my Spro frogs!! I used the trolling motor to get to the fish fast and was happy to see it was only a smaller fish. But he shredded the frog. Meanwhile the other son scrambled into my box and put on another Spro. I no sooner droped the first one into the water and he sets the hook on another. Before I got outta there they caught 3 Skis and lost or ruined 5 spro frogs....average 8$ ea....hmm all I did was run the T.M. and the net!!
I have the big Sizmic frogs but have yet to land a fish on one. I think Muskies like to destroy the Dean Rojas frogs

Check out the Bullfrog from Renegade Lures. It is another option for fishing slop. It is made by Mike Heath. Here is a link for more information:
