Posts: 462 Location: Antioch, IL | Interesting concept...If it has a back hook, how far back do you plan to run it into the flash? (maybe an extention to get it into the very back for those nipper fish) Does the extra drag in the rear affect the action vs. your regular cranks with the same body and lip? You should call it the Cranky Hemorrhoid. Looks like those poor baits are having a flare up

Posts: 278 Location: WV | I have thrown this design on a limited bases trying them out over the winter. There is actually a 4/0 treble in the skirt. It is approx. 2/3s of the way back in the skirt. They will have 2 3/0 trebles on the belly. Skirt has very little affect on the action. On a strait crank sequence, it lays back and looks like a jointed bait but with more action and flash. When the bait is twitched or worked like a jerkbait, the tail flares and breaths. I am very excited about this line of baits.

Posts: 462 Location: Antioch, IL | I can picture how these will look with some serious twitch action. (pulsing and flaring flash). Excellent colors as well. Nicely done my man.

Posts: 572 | wow....I've been thinking about modifying some of my lures by adding flashabou to the tail hook. And, now you have done it. Of course, your lures look better than most without any tail. You have talent. Normally I can choose a lure/color over the others.........but, I can't with your's. They all look good. Keep it up.

Posts: 810 | Nice looking baits Jerry, I've seen the prototype of this one in action and I'm certain that they will catch some fish. Now I can only wonder what a jointed version of this bait would look like...hmm!

Posts: 278 Location: WV | It is jointed. The tail section is free to swing.

Posts: 155 | Have you tried these lures yet.Ive tried some set ups similar to these. The tail kind of kills the action(sort of like a clump of weeds)They sure are beautiful though,if you got it down your the man!the first gold ones awesome!

Posts: 278 Location: WV | Yes, I have tried them. Made two original prototypes. One ran and one prototype that was just "dead". The only difference was body shape. These do run with a wide wobble. Going to try to video them soon. Edited by wvhillbillyjlm 2/23/2011 8:15 PM

I've thought of doing this too but then thought it would look like a clump of weeds. I have added a dressed treble to a few lures which I think looks good, more like a tail fin. Interested too see video also and see how they catch fish. They look absolutely awesome though.

Posts: 278 Location: WV | It will be a few days on a video. It is pouring the rain here and we are under a flood watch. Mountainmuskies can verify that they have good action.

Posts: 810 | I also wondered about the flashabou killing the action, yet it doesn't seem to hinder the action in a significant manner. These baits still have the required action to produce strikes without the flashabou, it's just an added bonus in my opinion. By the way Jerry, I would like to see you make an actual jointed version of the bait with the added attraction of the flashabou. But with the business and success you're having with your baits right now, might be hard to find the time to add any more wrinkles to your line-up!

Posts: 278 Location: WV | For those wanting to see a video of my Hybrid lure, take a look at the video under the video section titled Myers Hybrid. Video is not that good but I was running the cam with one hand and the rod with they other. If anyone can link that video to this thread, go ahead. I don't know how to link it.

Posts: 810 | Look good Jerry, I'm excited to get my 10" version of your crankbaits. From what I've been hearing, they work even better than the prototypes! Also can't wait to try your gill cranks too, will have to put them in front of some snarly fish this summer!
