I just bought my first fiberglass boat. There are some chips about a dime in size that are deep enough to see fibers. Anyone have any recommendations for the best way to fix them?
Thanks

I tried to fix a chip like that myself once witha epoxy style filler. I did a terrible job, so I took it to a pro. Fixing the gel coat with some color matched paste is one thing, but reglassing a decent size chunk is a whole different story IMHO.

Acquire the matching gel coat. Wet sand out the area you want to repair. Stick one end of a a strip of packing tape ahead of the repair area. Put a large enough amount of catalyzed gel on the tape and smooth it over the repair and past it so it sticks to the hull. Let the gel coat kick, peel off the tape, wet sand and buff.
