Those things would not be allowed in my boat! I am serious. Ridiculous. I don't care how comfortable they are. You've got to draw a line somewhere. I would consider Crocs and just about every other shoe recommended but c'mon man... ![]()

Posts: 910 Location: South-Central VA | I wear Merrell's WaterPro Rogue sandal. I wear them almost every day year round...I pretty much live in them. My last pair of Merrell sandals lasted 5 years including two trips to GNP. Not to mention all of the wade fishing, hiking, and running. Bombproof! jeremy

Posts: 107 Location: Plainfield, IL | MartinTD I am gonna have to disagree, those shoe sox thingies look like they may be comfortable. And they are not as ugly as the Deion Sanders shoe from early in this thread. I went to there site and they may have sold me. http://www.vibramfivefingers.com/products/mens_footwear.htm

i tried a couple pair of those Five Fingers on today; not for me. they're interesting and you get a very good feel for the ground, which makes sense for a running or trail shoe. but they're very light and lacked the insole support that i'm looking for in a boat shoe. i did some digging and discovered that the Merrell's i had trouble with are ones that are fit for a thinner foot height; relatively narrow and less height. a better foot measurement and talking to a friend with similar issues put me into a pair of Keen Voyageurs. they're wider in the base and they're taller/roomier so i can add a heel cushion with a strong high insole. thanks for sharing your thoughts, they feel good.

Posts: 358 Location: London, England | I'm on my second pair of the Keens above. The first pair were indestructible and lasted over 18 months of all day every day wear (I'm a plumber and they are used all day at work). The second pair haven't been as durable though. The sole kept having bits come loose, which I repaired very successfully with Aquasure, and the sole doesn't seem to have worn as well as the last pair. Despite this, I find them very comfortable and the waterproofing lasts well too - great for early morning dog walks in the dewy grass! I will probably get a third pair and hope they're as well built as the first pair when I finally retire this pair.

I have Keens for every occasion and IMO they are the answer. If they came with steel toes they would go to work everday!

Summer: Birkenstocks...100% Break them in first...drive over them about 30-50 times with your truck to speed this process up. Serious. Winter: Insulated Muck Boots Waterproof, warm and [I think] pretty darn comfortable.

Posts: 6 | Merrels+1 Most comfortable shoes ever! I wear them for everything. I like to go barefoot too but can be hard on my feet. My boat is a CC and I usually run standing up. With a good chop there is a lot of shock and vibration thats hell on the feet. Shoes will help dampen the shock so you get less fatige on not only feet, but knees, hips and lower back.

Location: Northern Wisconsin | I recently bought some Nike free runs and they are ridiculously comfortable, definitely the best shoe I have owned. They are a running shoe but I wear them all the time. I can imagine they would be great for fishing all day.

Posts: 51 | Get a pair of Chaco sandals for the summer. You can adjust the straps so they fit your feet perfectly and they have good support. Get last year's color and they're like $50 online.
