| Is the pounder or mega d a big fish only craze? I've seen lots of reports about monsters coming on these lures but a lot of the lakes I fish do not produce 50"+. I was thinking about adding some to my arsenal at the Milw show but do not want to waste my money on a lure that may be costing me fish in the 35-45'' range. I tried to do a search on this so if I am beating a dead horse please include a link to a thread that would cover this.

Location: Grand Rapids, MI | I don't think you'll be missing fish in the 35-45 range. The smallest fish I've caught on a Pounder was a 32"er. |

| If you're fishing smaller fish lakes or non trophy water, they'll hit a pounder. But you don't need to beat yourself up tossin them. 32's-45's will do just fine on other smaller baits and you don't have to kill yourself throwing them. get a couple but don't go over board. |

I've caught quite a few 40-45" fish on the pounder and a few nice pike to boot! Oh and a couple +50" fish. Every muskie fisherman should have a few of these in the boat.

Location: Land of the Musky | My MegaDs last year had some real hot weeks. I got some monster pictures of fish back from customers and a lot of 50"+ girls in the bunch.

No lack of colors either. 42 in two sizes for 84 total different MegaDs. Also just repriced them from $20 to $15.99 for the winter. Some rubber lures this size are priced up near $30. Last note, all of my MegaDs have the full body coil harness in them too so the lead head will not fall out. Basically they can take a lot of hits. |

LOL, I'd be more worried about a 35-45" fish costing you a pounder, but no, it's not too big. |

| Love the soft plastics but gotta tell ya you get a hungry fish, Musky or pike and they will rip the shreds out of it. Went through four last year and unfortunately "mend it" or any home-made repair job couldn't fix them. |

LOL! I finally picked up some big rubber this offseason. I've been throwing regular and mag dawgs but finally stepped it up to the pounder. I fish mostly smaller 500 acre lakes where there are a few trophy size fish but I don't see anyone throwing pounder size baits. I'm planning to give the huge lures in general a shot this year and see how they produce. |

They should work out pretty well. I fish small lakes at well (400 acres and smaller) and do well on pounders when most people are throwing regulars and mags. I'm not saying pounders will out produce regulars and mags all the time, but at certain times the fish definitely want something bigger. |

Location: Montreal, Que. Canada | How about the Shallow Pounders The only place I've seen them is Muskytackleonline. I was thinking about it but I guess Pounders don't sink fast enough or used much in swallow water to have a need for the shallow model?

Location: Southern MN | I've got a shallow pounder and like it; if you're working it in shallow water or over weed tops it has a nice glide and hang when worked with jerks or pulls. IMO it's got it's place, hard for me at least to work a regular pounder over shallow cover. |

| do yourself a favor and buy 2 MegaDs for every Pounder. They are $15.99 and stand up to more abuse than a Pounder ever will. Love these baits! rock solid |

| ps-TI also has the MegaDs in a shallow. 42 freeeeking colors for both weights. Amazing how many baits they have. I want to see the warehouse! |
