Does anyone have some recommendations or ideas for a cheap place to stay for a week in N. Wis? I am looking for a place under $600 for the week. I just need a small cabin for two people. I would like it to be on a good musky lake, probably more of an action lake but also with a chance at a big fish.

Thanks in advance

Here is a cheap place outside Hayward I have stayed at a couple times, very near the Big Chip, not far from a number of good other lakes.

You have to eat out all meals, but for about $ 55.00 a night the price is right.

Try the bunkhouse at Indian Trail Resort on the Chippewa Flowage. John & Brenda Detloff run a great resort that is truely dedicated to people who want to fish. AND after fishing you can enjoy the commaraderie of other fishing folks over a pizza and beverage!!!!

Check this site:

You'll have to do some poking around, but most resorts list rates. Hillcrest is on Big St. and is in your price range. Likewise try searching the net for township visitors' centers....Arbor Vitae, Land o' lakes, Eagle River, etc, etc...should be able to find a lot of options that way.

I also recommend the Chipwa Motel. Great rates and just up the road from the CC boat launch on the Chip.

Try the Springstead Lake Lodge or Chico's North of the Border on Upper and Lower Springstead. It's one of my favorites. The 2 lakes are connected and are easy to fish to someone new to them. They total about 200 acres with plenty of fish in the upper 30's and lower 40's. There is also a good chance at a 50 in there.

Phillips and Park Falls areas have a number of small older resorts that are priced right. The Phillips Chamber page has contact info.

Additionally, you have the landing at B close by in case the bog gets under the bridge, and you have quick access to Lost Land/Teal, Ghost, and Winter from there, all interesting dark water lakes with good populations.
