Posts: 717 Location: Grand Rapids, MI | I just bought a Ranger dual pro 2 bank charger. I have not installed it in my boat yet. Previously during the winter months, I would take all my batteries into my basement, and keep them charged up using just a regular charger. But I figured now I'll just use the onboard charger and plug it in downstairs until I install it. The question is this: To charge up my trolling motor batteries, do I still have to have the "jumper" cable connecting the positive on 1 battery to the negative on the other like it will be for my 24v system once it's on my boat? Or can I just charge it as a 12v, and hook up the cables from the charger to each battery without connecting the batteries any other way? Thanks!

Posts: 279 | Im pretty sure you always charge it like its two 12 volts anyway...another words one bank goes to positive and neg on one battery and the other bank goes to the positive and negative on the other battery.

Posts: 443 Location: Indiana | if I understand your question correctly. You will hook each battery up individually as if charging each one alone. The batteries can still be hooked up as if in the 24V system, but do not have to be.

Ok. But I don't need the extra jumper cable going from the + on one and the - on the other like it will be once it's in the boat?
