This might be a stupid question, but what's the rubber mat you're standing on for?

I think we all can agree that a fish dying is in no one's interest, especially a fish of that caliber. I trust Jason did all he could to prevent mortality, but sometimes things just don't work out. I was disappointed to hear the fish died, but I am not criticizing anyone for it. I released my pb this year and I am skeptical as to whether or not it survived. The fact that it likely didn't still bothers me, but a fish dying is expected from time to time. As Jason said, it's ashame it had to be that one.

Mille Lacs, 33 degrees, pooring down rain/snow in 3 footers with a Northwest wind after catching a couple huge pigs that slime all over the boat.. Just guessing for his footing...

Those mats are suppose to reduce body fatigue, and leg and back pain as well as facilitate better footing. Some factory workers/warehouse personel that are on their feet all day on concrete swear by them, never thought about using one on the casting platform though... Looks like a good idea

Congrats~! Also Great pics that truly capture how big the fish really is. You and Sondag have sure put the hurting on the pigs this year! How big are those things going to get? Unreal!

The mat is an anti fatigue mat. You see them alot behind gas station counters or on the floor of an assembly line.

Standing 8-12 hours in the back of a boat, I'm surprised more guides/anglers do not have one in there boat

That's pretty cool. I never really considered one myself. I'll have to look into them. A new trend has begun.
